Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) Universal Remote System

I have an 1LT. Is there any way to change my Daytime Running Lamps from dim headlight to the yellow parking lamps (next to headlights)? I know DRLs for SS are fog lamps but have seen non SS Camaros on the road that use the yellow parking lamps for Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs) and I would like to know how it is done. The on board lighting menus do not allow this. Does this require rewiring? Is there a way to eliminate the DRLs other than flipping the switch to off every time you start engine? Are all models equipped with Universal Remotes or just 2LT and 2SS?

Thanks for any insights you can provide. stlrammer@charter.net

Actually, it is the non-RS models that use the parking lights instead of the fog lights for running lights. I am not aware of any easy wiring harnesses, and would not want to mess up the wiring on a new car for something trivial as light placement. The homelink is only on 2lt and 2ss models, to my knowledge, unless you can get it in one of the option packages.

On my 1LT I turn my headlights off then just turn on the parking lights. I know this turns on my taillights to but they are not very noticeable. When a friend of mine in an 1LT RS and I went to a car show I turned on my parking lights plus the fog lights so they would appear similar to his RS's DRL's. On my 99 B4C camaro the front amber parking lights were the DRL's. I've never tried rewiring my DRLs on my 1LT.

Anyone know how to run the DRL power from the headlight to the driving lights instead?

A little bit off topic, but I have a 1lt/rs and I know the fog lamps are the DRL's but i noticed when the headlights come on (manually or automatically) the fogs turn off. I'm sure it has been covered before but is this normal? I'd think that the fogs and headlights would be on together.

Thanks

That is normal on the RS. Many folks hate the lack of control on the lights. There is a harness to fix that issue.

Actually since the computer is the one that determines what lights are on and off, I would think there should be tuning software that could let you see the options in the programming and you could change it so the computer does what YOU want instead of what somebody else wants.

I personally hate DRL and turn mine off. However I would like to have the DRL's function as fog/driving lights and come one when the halos/parking lights come on, and I'd like the turn signal lamps in the front to come on too. I'd like all the lights on when the headlights are on.

Anybody know of a program that runs on a Mac that would allow you to change these settings?

The DRL's on LT's are headlights, and are spring activated at the switch, so I don't think software would help, but I removed my spring, and now I control the lights 100%!

Could you give some more info on how you accomplished this and how you are able to control the DRLs now? Thanks, much appreciated.
