Finally got my first car. =D
1973 Camaro, Needs work, but it runs well and has very little rust.
I'm putting in some of that Rust Stopping Gel Tomorrow, also putting in a New Manifold and Carb. It's currently so Overcammed that it doesn't really idle very well, Stalls when you swap it from Park to Drive if you're not on the gas. Also, I'm going to put in a Manual Tranny, It has a Turbo 350 right now. What do you think? -Edit- Here's the latest picture of the Engine

Thank you. =D
I swapped out the old Intake manifold, and the Carb, also put in new Spark Plugs and Cables, sounds much better already, not AS lopey but we just have to finish tuning it before we can take it for a ride. I'm hoping to have it Dyno'd sometimes soon and maybe run down to the track and see how quick it is just for fun. =D -Edit- To 2010 SSRS: Isn't that an '84 in your Avatar too?

I payed $3500, But I'm $500 more into it already. =/
So about $4000. It's got a few things here and there that need to be fixed, but I like it, It's just right now you can't easily drive down slow streets, and it doesn't idle well, you have to 2 foot it. just little things. If you barely tough the gas like as lightly as you can, you go like 5-10 mph, but if you try to go 15, you just have to tap it and let it coast over and over, because when you get to 5 or 10 the next speed is 25. My GF's dad says it probably needs a new Torque Converter or a Smaller Carb. He says "It's like it has an off and on switch, not a gas pedal." Right now, you step on it, full throttle, and it like slowly Glides from 1-40ish, than when it finally gets to higher RPM's it jumps up and starts to move... and I don't know enough about cars to know why it's doing that, so if anyone here knows a lot about the '73s and can help me out, I can explain every little detail for you, and you can tell me what you think. =D

but, like I said, I don't know much about cars, So I can't really tell you lol. It has "Original Z28 rims" which I don't really get because "It's not a Z28" Haha. -Edit- Also, he says "I think whoever drove the car before us was trying to build it purely for power and it just doesn't like to be driven at such low RPM's because it acts very well when you step on it and it gets going, but, it can't idle and when you go from 0 and just try to drive on the streets it acts up a lot when it goes slow." and, I was in it today, and when we were coasting at 25, it was very like... It kept kind of jumping forward, like to me it felt like it was trying to go faster but couldn't get the gas it needs to do it as if someone was just like tapping the gas repeatedly or something, but even with me driving it, I couldn't hold it steady at just 25 mph, it would like go 23 for a second than jump to 28, than back to 23 for a second than jump to 28, as if I was going 23 but stomping and releasing the gas every couple seconds. I just wish I knew enough to be able to get it safely on the streets because it's to hard for me as a "Beginner Driver" to have to switch it to neutral at a red light, than rev it up a bit and jump into drive but stay on the gas or stall... so it's like driving a Manual, but it's an Automatic. O.o

Time for a new cam. What are the numbers on the block?
This is from Nastyz28.com "The vin code format is stamped onto most engines. The format consists of divisional identification number, model year, assembly plant designation and vehicle serial or sequence number. In 68-69 model cars, the serial (VIN) number of the car the engine was installed in is stamped next to, or under the engine code ID. Starting in 1970, the serial number is stamped either above the oil filter, somewhere on the block pad (in front of the cylinder head), or on the transmission flange somewhere. Chevrolet issued technical service bulletins to indicate which engines were to recieve a vin stamp, so who knows what could have happend (or not happened)." If you find this number, see if it has the same numbers as on vin. |

-Edit- Ok, Like I said, I'm pretty Car dumb when it comes to specifics, and everyone else is taking a nap so I can't ask them, Is a "Cam" and a "Camshaft" the same thing, and Cam is just short? Or are they 2 different things?
