Greetings All! 1st Post = ? removing wax from matte black stripes

Hello all, first time post for me, glad to be here!

*back story*

So I've always bought Mustangs.. had a 95 5.0 black on black convertable then moved on to a 2000 red performance model GT.

Paid off.. the not having car payments was awesome.. however, I COULD NOT resist trading in for the new 2010 Camaro. I Love this car.. LOVE IT! Can't explain how thrilled I am with my first Chevy.. This car rules my face Had for 4 weeks now.

*end back story*

So both my Mustangs had matte black rally stripes and I've always waxed for protection..

First week of owning my Camaro, I fully detailed *it's what I love doing, cleaning my car*.. so I clay barred and then layed down a nice coat of wax over the entire vehicle. This car looks so great, cream dream!!!

Since then I've noticed the matte black stripes have white wax swirls in them. I've waxed the car twice since then, staying away from the stripes..

Question is, how can I remove these swirls from my stripes?

I've heard a little peanut butter works but first want to run this through you guys. These forums are brutal for awesome advice.. I would love comments, if there's anything I can do.

Any advice is appreciated!!

I've attached pics, it's a 2SS/RS Black on Black 6speed.

All I've done so far is replace the engine cover (red with decals) and added a K&N airfilter. I'm also having the GM Performance exhaust w/tips installed this Thursday... Not all that, but looking forward to the sound improvement after reading these forums, while still keeping my warranty.

I'm also replacing the gold(keeping the chrome outer edge) on my bowties with matte black vinyl tomorrow.

Apologies for this mass wall of type, sure there are plenty of typos/spelling issues, (got off work early, went to the pub etc, but wanted to lay it all out there and am really stoked I now have a new online place to call home!

Any tips on removing these wax swirls from my rally stripes? Looking forward to more fun on these boards!! Thanks in advance ~ Lok

you could try vinyl cleaner/conditioner.

haven't had that problem with mine.i use turtle wax ice on my stripes, works great.turtle wax recomends it for vinyl and it reads on the bottle that it is vinyl safe.
and welcome to C5.

Actually, peanut butter is a badly repeated misconception that is recommended by folks who are unaware of what actually happens. It is not the peanut butter that makes the damage go away, it is the peanut oil in peanut butter that fills in the damage and makes it appear to go away. You NEVER want to wax your stripes if they are matte finished. Adam's makes a Clear Polish and that is the only product that I have ever used that does not cause the stripes to turn shiny, and it is made to help repair the damage that you have done to the stripes already.

So please, don't put peanut butter on your car. It will do nothing but create an ant problem. That would not be nice.

You might try 3M Tar and Wax Remover. Don't let it get under the edge of the stripes because it also removes adhesives. Save the peanut butter for sammitches.
