***FINAL UPDATE*** (I Hope) on XM JUST CHARGED ME $753.85

I woke up this morning and my account showed "REFUND XM SATELLITE RADIO" and it was POST DATED 5/12? Now this leads me to wonder......

Since it was post dated on 5/12 did they realize their mistake and fix it right away and it took that long to hit the account? NO, let me tell you why. They were unaware of it happening until I brought it to there attention and the Bank had no Idea either.

When they said I would have my refund in 7 to 10 days and there was nothing they could do any earlier then that, (from a supervisor) I guess that wasn't true. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful it did happen earlier....

My advice to anyone who has to go through this with XM, get a supervisor right off. Get a name AND AN EMPLOYEE NUMBER, don't let them tell you they don't have any because they do. You may have to ask them to spell there name, but we already went there. Keep a calm head and even tone, remember the person your talking to did'nt do this to you, but they are the one who is gonna help you get it fixed. Do not give in too these people when they say "If you sign up for a year of service then we will subtract that amount and refund the rest". Cancel your subscription no matter how much you like the service because if you don't you are REWARDING THEIR BAD BEHAVIOR. I'm not bitter over this, I really like the service, but on principle I will not give (or let them take anymore of my money).

Thank you all for your interest in this line of threads, I hope this helped out my fellow Camaro5 Brothers and Sisters.
One more thing.... The Refund was $1.50 short.

Why was it $1.50 short? Yeah, I know, a buck fifty is hardly anything, but if you're fighting on principle, why give them ANY of YOUR money they tried to STEAL?

This crap sounds like the stuff I had to go through with Dish Network. They get you with their low prices and promises that it is as reliable as cable, but it's really not. The signal does go out when it's very windy or raining hard. It's insane. Then half of the time I have to restart the receiver because It just can't receive certain channels. But after the 10 min reboot process is done, all the channels work...

Anyway, this sounds a lot like the Dish Network issues I had because they kept charging me for things that I didn't order or wasn't informed I would be billed for! For example they had this one fee called "TV2 Connection" which supposedly could be waived if you plugged your receiver into a network port or phone line. So I did both after seeing that I was being billed for it, but the installer never mentioned the fee and it was NOT in the contract. They claim my receiver is actually 2 receivers because I can get 2 separate channels on 2 TVs with the one receiver and that's what the fee is for...

So after jumping through all their hoops and connecting the receiver to a phone line and to my network hub, I still get billed for this stupid TV2 connection! I call back and they claim that I won't be charged for it anymore. Lo and behold a couple months later the fee is back! I call in and am furious at this point and this time they try to tell me that I can't get the fees reversed because the policy changed. The new policy was that in order to remove the TV2 connection fee you have to now be signed up for paperless billing and autopay instead of having the receiver connected to the phone line. Well at this point, I thought "I got you now, you dummies!!!!" And I calmly told the person that I had been signed up for paperless billing as well as auto pay AND had my receiver plugged into the phone line since before this unannounced policy change. The person on the phone repeated the same thing that the policy had changed and I still had to be billed for the connection. I asked for a supervisor at this point and argued for another 30 min. I finally got my fees reversed. And for the first time my bill doesn't show the stupid TV2 connection. It was a bunch of BS.

Moral of the story is stay away from Dish Network if you have the money to! They have hidden fees and their customer service really is not that good.

Have had DISH since 1997 and never had any issues. Granted when we upgraded the dish itself and they offered "free installation" the guys didn't get the max signal and we had to readjust but if they didn't offer it free we just would've done it ourselves anyways. In 2010 and with the amount of forums out there I always make sure I do plenty of research before I purchase anything.

I would still call your credit card company and tell them what happened and say you wanna have your card number changed so this doesnt happen again.

Great point! The credit card companies don't want to deal with fradulent claims, so this is the easier route....unless you have auto-pay on the current credit card #.

Is the $1.50 a pro-rated charge?
