Tap Shift, are you using it and how do you like it?
Well I am kind of getting tired of when I want the car to move it revs up and then drops a gear and goes. I just started to play around with the tap shift to get the car to move quicker.
How many of you are using tapshift most the time and how long did it take you to get the hang of it? I am sure my mileage will go down but if it makes the car more fun might be worth it. I know I know should of got the M6, but to late now. |

Then, once you tune it, the A6 will be VERY fun and quicker and harder. PS - Any delay you're noticing is not the shift speed. It's from the computer recognizing your input. With that said, it's still accelerating during that "delay". I don't feel any type of delay anymore with my tune. You can blame torque management for the stock delay however. But, even with the delay on a stock tune, when it shifts IT SHIFTS. The delay isn't the car shifting, remember that. Hope that wasn't confusing.

StlRomAniaN,
You're the first I've heard that experienced better tap shift response time with a tune. What tuner did you use since that is another nice benefit!! |

TapShift is a blast. 2/3 of the time I drove the SST, I used the TapShift. Get the A6 set up right and chirping the first couple of shifts gets your blood pumping...

A guy at Redline Performance. Very knowledgeable guy and he's an expert with LSX engines. Another plus is that he takes his time tuning and gets everything just right.

Starting to mess with the tap shift, but last car was a 6M CTS DI... hard for me to think about shifting without trying to step on the clutch.
Sport Mode + Comp Mode is getting me to redline just fine for my daily driving.

For any doubters out there, just drive it through a bunch of up and down twisties (roads) and you'll be amazed. You can't downshift and upshift that quick in and out of turns.

Tap shift is fun to play with sometimes. I would rather have it on the console so it could be used in turns.
The better option is a trans tune. I left D mode as the factory set it. After 40 or so trys, I have S mode so it is truely an agressive street car. And, I have the 3.45 gears - WOW!
