front license plate mounting?

Here's my situation I live in TX and I believe by law you have to have both plates on the car. So I go to install the front plate and I see that it looks like you have to use pop rivets to install the front plate holder. Wanted to know if anyone has an alternative way for installing the holder. Really don't feel like drilling holes in a car that is a week old. One alternative is not to install at all and hope not to get pulled over for not having a front plate. Would like any replies especially from people from TX. Thx.

Welcome to living in Texas. I'm not running a front license plate either.

I have had the car since September and have not been pulled over. But I do carry the plates with me in the car.
Do a search on front plates. I have seen several solutions on the forums. Some cheap and some not so cheap.

There is a flip-up bracket being offered. I purchased one but have not installed it yet. Lived in two-plate states (CO and CA) all my life, been running w/o a front plate for 9+ years on previous car and 6 mo on Camaro. Hasn't been an issue yet, though haven't been stopped for any reason in that time either.

If I get stopped, I will install the flip-up bracket and get the ticket dropped. Then flip the plate back down and under the bumper until the next time.

That's a good idea, hopefully you don't get the same cop twice haha!

Link to thread with link to flip-up bracket.

You can even get a powered one, if you really want to mess with the local trooper. Imagine powering it up as he/she walks up to tell you they pulled you over for not having a front plate, then you ask them to go check again.

But you better hope they have a good sense of humor though.

Or just flip the mounting bracket upside down and zip tie it or use some wingnuts to secure it to the car. Do a search on front licence plates, and you will see how it is done. I am at work or I would search and post the link for you. I did it on mine, and so far it works just fine. I think I spent about 3.00 bucs total.

I live in texas too...and i havent been running front plates on any of my cars for over 9 years no problems at all and I pass many cops each day. I work in downtown right next to the HPD building and still no problems...i say if you get pulled over just tell them your front bracket that you ordered from ebay hasn't come in yet...what ever you do dont drill holes in your cars front bumper...you can also turn the bracket upside down and tie it to the lower grill using zip ties...theres a DIY thread on here just use the search im sure you'll find it.
