alright, so I think im going to bite at buying some drop springs for hotrod.....heres the thing I'm looking for about a 1.2-1.4 drop, with leveling the back of the car (since the back sits up so high), I dont want to cut the bumpstops, dont want to bottom out the back (the dreaded clunk), and I got about 300 bucks to do it with since I still will have to get an alignment...i've got one or two in mind but I'm looking for feedback from members to see what the suggestions are...
![]() btw...swaybars will be done later (fallish Im planning)

The 1.2 - 1.4 is going to limit you. A majority are 1" drops.
I think at the moment you'll have to choose either Pfadt or H&R. Both roughly $300 but Pfadt recommends cutting the bump stops and I've heard H&R are on the rougher riding end of the group. Oh....almost forgot about DSE which I believe is a 1.4-1.5 but that will be out for you because they only sell them with their sway bars and you're looking at around $900 for that. BMR might have a 1.4" eventually but last I heard they are still in development of them. They might be an option if you wait. I went Hotchkis for the reasons as you're wanting except that I am good with the 1" drop. I got mine for $290 shipped and $80 alignment.

I put in the Pfadt drop spring (I also put in their sway bars and end links). The drop with Pfadt is about 1.25".
I got my Pfadt suspension through IPS Motorsports. IPS Brandon is a member of these forums and he got me a great price. Send him a PM for a quote. |

Why do you not want to cut the bump stops? There is ABSOLUTELY NO issues with trimming the bump stops , whether we install a Pfadt Eibach H&R spring we always trim the bump stops, this is proper procedure for any lowering spring in my opinion.
Aside from that point if you are looking 1.2- 1.4 " drop the Pfadt springs are perfect for you, they also can be purchase with in your budget through me Just message me.These will not clunk, or bottom out under normal driving conditions, obviously if you hit a space crater of a pothole, it may in fact bottom out. killinemsoftly.....any problem with bottoming out?
ips brandon...other than installing a spoiler cutting/drilling is not something I want to do with my car...I also dont feel the bumpstop will hold up as well with having its structual intergrity messed with...but I may give you a shout for sure when im ready to buy caverman....im intersted in Hotchkis but they show them for the SS..Im 90% sure they would fit, but would I get more than a 1 inch drop since my car sits higher than the SS from the factory? Also, did u have to cut the bumpstops? thanks everyone for taking the time to respond and if anyone has more imput i absolutely welcome it.

Have you seen the bumpstop on the struts? It's a circular rubber/foam piece on there. It looks like it's disposable, really. Structural integrity couldn't be compromised, when you cut it you're just taking it down from 2 inches high to 1 inch high. I can't imagine a set of them being more than $10 to replace. |
