2010 Camaro SS L99 Vs 2007 MUSTANG GT/CS
I got a guy I work with who has a 2007 Mustang Gt with the California Special kit on his car
Since I got my car he keeps wanting me to go to the track and run him lol why ? I dunno I got a 2010 Camaro SS L99 1 7/8 ARH Longtubes , Xpipe and Borla axlebacks ADM Race Cold Air intake ADM Tune I'm a 6speed Automatic ( Car has 3600 miles on it ) He has a 2007 2007 FORD MUSTANG GT/CS Longtubes X pipe and whatever mufflers came on the CS package. 90mm Cold Air kit which comes with the CS ( said to add 20extra to rear wheels ) And a Tune He is a 5 speed manual He keeps saying he wants to Eat my A$$ since my car is FAT and OVERWEIGHT. He says 1/8 or 1/4 mile race he dont care. After installing the mods on my car and having it tuned 1st pull my car made 359.33 hp 382.20TQ after a little more tweaking on the tune 2nd pull 363.43hp 383.35TQ I have not Run my car at the track yet...... My car has the same mods as The fastest mod only 1/2 mile L99 car aka GMRULZ on here And the Fastest 1/8 miile L99 car aka Number_9 on here I'm not the one talking Smack here im like I dunno man this is what I have. I ran a tuned/cai/exahaust GT CS awhile back, don't know what model year it was, anyways, it couldn't run below a 13.1 ( in the 1/4 mile, Rockingham Dragway) if I remember correctly. Maybe some drag radials would put it in the 12's. I think ya got him. I used to have the vids posted up on You Tube, but I killed him so bad in the vette, I was getting flack about it, so I dropped them .

Yeah put money on this race and shut him up because you will embarase him. I used to own a 08GT and to make it as quick as a stock L99 it would have taken CAI, tune, and long tube headers. Just make sure you hook up and it will not even be close with your mods.

Okay, first off, I have to compliment you on your mods and your dyno. You have a fast car, relatively at least. As I'm sure you know, it's powerful enough to give you some launch issues. With your power levels, I don't see how you can launch with out spinning your tires for at least two seconds -- maybe less if you do a nice little burnout before you stage.
So, on a great day, if you had a good deal of practice with your car, you could possibly pull mid 12's, maybe a tenth or two lower if the G-ds were with you, which happens. I'm not a drag racer but I've read so many posts on here, that I have a pretty good idea of what these cars do. Plus, I have an L99 and my car's had different mods done at different times, so I know how my car drives when it has 336 rwhp/ 361 ft/lbs tq; 395 rwhp/ 392 ft/lbs tq; and now 470 rwhp/ 440 ft/lbs of tq. When my car had the 336 rwhp, with just an exhaust, my car would peel out pretty good on most launches. But after several launches, my tires would heat up and my engine would too so it would obviously lose some power, and therefore my car would hook pretty good. When my car had 395 rwhp it usually acted like it did on launch when it had 336 rwhp because I had a centri on it and the tune was off (that's why it didn't make very much power) and it made most of it's power up top. But still, I probably had as much power as you in the lower rpms. And again, on early runs it would spin the tires on launch but after a few runs it would start to hook pretty good. So bottom line, traction will be your biggest issue, coupled with your launch technique. On average, I would guess you could run mid to high 12's maybe even low 13's still, because drag racing has so much to do with practice. Now, if the Mustang owner is pretty good with his car, even though he has less power than you, his car is lighter, and he could likely run very low 13's too. Maybe even crack the high 12's. And every one can have a great day, so perhaps he could even run better than that. I would say, practice your launch techniques for a couple of weeks. And then run him. And like someone said bedore me, bet him a steak dinner first, because I'm sure with a bit of practice you'll take him. |

I don't even Use Sport mode anymore. Andy @ ADMperformance tuned my car in Drive I think the hardest part is going to be getting her off the line without smoking the tires. I have turned everything off meaning TC/Stability put it in Drive and applied on the brake and brought the rpms up where it just about wants to move the car then floored it and she basically spins the tires for a good amount of distance. Another Gentleman who knows this Tune pretty well and happens to have all of the same mods if not more now has told me if you stand on the gas with Andys Tune you will smoke the tires ( he was right ) I guess I gotta roll into it with the right touch. One thing about this tune not only does this car jump off the line Quick but around 55/60mph she climbs VERY HARD and Quickly to 3 digits. Cool evenings/Mornings the CAI just shows why Cool IAT Temps make the difference. We actually had a cool morning today while driving to work I took my on ramp on to the highway and rolled into the throttle lets just say she walked sideways and I had to let off the gas otherwise I would be buying New tires Very Soon. CANT WAIT FOR WINTER and 34 degree mornings hahahahahaha I may actually look FWD to driving to work |

Assuming he is telling the truth and not hiding any mods, that's a low 13-high 12 second car, with a good launch. I have just about the same mods he has, except I have aftermarket mufflers and a dyno tune on mine. Launching it really good is not exactly easy on street tires.
I put drag radials on mine because my car really needed them to get the power I have to the ground. I've not hit the track since I got the tires, but I'm going this Friday. I'll post up my times so you can get a good baseline. I will say that it will be very hot and very humid down here though, so he may get better times if you guys have much better conditions where you live. But long story short, with your mods you should win, unless he gets a good launch and you spin badly. |
