BC Racing Coilovers 2010 Camaro | Ultimate Performance

Anyone try these yet? any info on skid pad results? Think they could be as good as pfadt coilovers? Im not very knowledgeable with suspension kits and handleing. reading about the kits is one thing getting info and reccommendations from all of you who have exp. with this stuff would be alot better. I'm looking for something to handle alot better than stock be top knotch at the drag strip and handle decent on the track. so what do you reccomend. I plan on driving a mix of daily and weekend. dragstrip at least 1 weekend every month or 2. Maybe track day 2-5 times a year. Should I spend the money on coil overs or just get a drop kit and sway bar kit?

Yeah definitely go with the coilovers and bushing upgrades; I have the Pedders on my car and it makes a world of difference.

Well I'm having a hard time deciding. I would like to know actual skid pad numbers from bc racing and pfadt. I've seen pfadts on the track and they look good. they are twice the price of these bcs and def. have alot of data to back emt up to. I would like to get more info on these bcs and how well they perform on the track and skidpad.

If you're going to do roadcourse only 2-5 times a year then skidpad numbers aren't as important as straightline (and price) since you said you're going 1/4 mile every month. Pfadt makes full-out racing stuff and the price reflects that. Pedders makes street stuff that can be used on the track so I'd recommend Pedders for your situation; they are highly adjustable without sacrificing ride quality, will work for all the applications you mention, and the cost is reasonable.

I got the street Xtreme Xa package and with installation, setup and full chassis alignment the whole thing ran about $3k. That includes their terrific Xa coilovers and bushings. They have other packages including a drag racing package that adds more but you can "grow" your setup as you need.

Ask Mike (dms) who to take your car to in New Mexico for installation and setup. It's well worth the money.

oh ok well I will be moving to wichita falls when i get back from my tdy this summer. I am looking to do the install my self with some help. So far I have installed everything on this car myself. I just wanted to make sure that bc racing had some track data showing all the testing they did and development.

if ur cross shopping the bc and pfadt, pfadt hands down wins. they are probably the best street/race coilovers on the market. lots of wins behind them, hours upon hours of man ours spent on R&D. and tons of data to support their coilovers. not like alot of other stuff thats just put together. I wouldnt get bc's thats just my opinion. if they were given to me for free i'd sell em lol.

my fav suspension companies, are pfadt, B&G, and KW. stance is becoming more and more popular. especially in the german car market as it maintains great ride quality. B&G's are known for ride quality. they arent overly aggressive or harsh. they are more about ride comfort which i like. they have capabilities of racing. but probably wont win u competitions like the KW and Pfadt will. keep in mind B&G doesnt make coilovers for the 5th gen yet.

so really if ur lookin for coilovers go pfadt and dont look back.

You'll be able to do the coilovers yourself but I highly recommend if you do the bushings, you consider taking it to the appropriate recommended dealer from whoever's products you buy. Bushing removal and replacement is not for the casual DIYer and you'll want to get everything properly aligned and adjusted afterwards.

here is what i see as far as the difference between pfadt and pedders...

the pedders are fully threaded body, where the pfadt are not.
see, fully threaded means you can adjust height at the bracket, not the spring perch. when you adjust at the perch, you are pretty much compressing the damper, putting it closer to "bottoming out" at the end of its travel.
they are fine if you just want about a 2 inch drop. for most street/strip weekend warrior types that's all you will probably want or need.

however the pedders allow you to change the height of the coilover at the mounting bracket, keeping the same damper travel no matter how low the vehicle is, keeping proper damping rates and travel is key for handling and ride quality.

here are pics to show you the difference in the coilovers...
PFADT
(notice the welds on the brackets, no threads there)

Pedders
(notice threads all the way down into bracket)

and the pedders installed on the rear of thier project camaro.
also note the bottom bracket is adjustable, same as the fronts.

not trying to stir things up here, just making obvious comparisons!

Ours are 30 way double adjustable (both adjusted by the same knob) and ours do not change the compression on the spring to control height, we control the length of the strut to control the height. This is the same way the coilovers are on our GTO and G8, that have been so well received on the street and the track.

If you wanted to take a step up from there you can choose the Supercar Coilovers that allow seperate bound and rebound adjustments, as well as a huge reservoir on each coilover. These are by far the best on the market at any price, are these right for you, that is not for me to say, but if i had a Camaro and could afford them, it's what i'd have, but for now i have to suffer with my GTO, lol

I have the BC coilovers but havent istalled them yet due to not understanding the instructions. I was hoping someone would do an install thread with pics on these coilovers. Pedders makes a great product I am just not that rich to own them that is why I went with the BC coilovers.

Having an adjustable body for a daily driver isn't always the best option. Too many tuning options can work against you if not adjusted just right. The Pedders dampers are an amazing option with this feaure and the Pfadt dampers have a lowered ride height already designed into the body mount/shaft travel so the average consumer with a 1.5"-2" lowered Camaro won't need to worry about this. The Pfadt and the Pedders are definitely THE choice for the new Camaro though over the BC, H&R, or Eibach.

Both Pedders and Pfadt have been deeply involved in racing with GM brands for years and specialize in nothing but these cars and I would recommend either for my own vehicle.

How much would I scrape going over stuff if I drop the car by 2" instead of 1"?
Just curious if it made the car low enough to start scraping the underside of it.
