No GM employee discount??

Ok, so I talked to my dad's friend Rob that work's at my dad's Chevrolet dealership in MI. And he told me that he doesn't think GM will be offering the GM employee discount to new 2010 Camaro's. And if that's the case then I will most likely not buy one. Because I am not going to buy a LS with a auto just to get a camaro. I wanted a 1LT/RS with the auto. So I don't know what I am going to do now, I guess I just have to wait and find out if GM will be offering it.

Yeah I would too! BTW I live in Canton!

GM will offer employee discount on the Camaro (well to the Employees) maybe not right when the Camaro launches... One GM engineer said he heard for the first 6 months... YIKES! But they will eventually....

I know I'm not getting a Camaro unless I get my GM employee discount!

Yea, dido. I was looking at the jetta wolfsburg edition that has 200hp. But I really want a camaro so that everybody that knows me can be JEALOUS, and that I will finally have a car that is fast, fun to drive, looks awesome, and everybody stares at.

GM in financial trouble + recession = deals on all their cars. This isn't the right time to screw around and same goes for the dealers and their 'upcharges.' Dealers killed the initial GTO sales with their bs. I want to punch one in the face if I hear about any markup the greedy pricks put on the camaro.

Not completely true.
www.gmfamilyfirst.com if you have a login, you can get GMS pricing
and some dealers are offering to give their employees GMS. It's up to the discretion of each dealer right now.

Dealers are in financial trouble and car sales are slow all over. Can't make much money discounting econoboxes and selling them at invoice. Can't sell many trucks or SUVs these days. So when a specialty car first comes out (whether its a high performance coupe like the Camaro or trendy hybrid like the Prius) and the demand is waaay higher than the supply for the first few months, the dealers finally have a chance to sell for over MSRP and actually make a few dollars. They call it "market adjustment" or selling at "market value", but they couldn't do it if there weren't people willing to pay the markups. People with more money than you or me.

The funny thing is that people only complain when it is the car they want to buy. They're marking up the retro 2-seat T-bird? Who cares - I don't want one. They're marking up the Solstice? So what. They're marking up the GT500? Those idiot Mustang lovers are crazy! They're marking up the Nissan GT-R? Nice car, but its just for those stupid ricers. They're marking up the Challenger SRT8? Who cares - it's not as good as the Camaro! They're marking up the Corvette ZR-1? Who cares - I can't afford one anyway.

But now they're marking up the Camaro. Now the Chevy dealers are bastards, but only because its the car you want to buy. Grow up. Markups are part of the car business, but only while supply lags behind demand on specialty models. Unless its a car in truly limited production (like the ZR-1 or GT-R), all you have to do is be patient and wait for supply to catch up with demand.

Nicely put. My dealer (who I have worked for 5 years) told me that if I wanted priority 1, they couldn't give me GMS.

I am paying MSRP - I need this car, if I waited to get a 2ss at a later date I would get GMS pricing.

Am I crazy - maybe? I have been in this business 20+ years, worked for the manufacturer and retail.

That is the way the cookie crumbles.
