1st car show = 1st trophy

Ok, it's not Pebble Beach, but it was a great local fund-raiser for the elementary school and a good time was had by all. And, yes, the trophy is an actual bowling pin - donated by a local blowing alley and smoothed & painted by a local show-car painter who volunteered his time to prep & paint 50 of these things.

To be honest, it was a bit unexpected. I mean, how many new cars can you put out with a field full of beautifully restored classics and come away with a trophy?

Also, check out the 1958 La Dawai Conquest. Ever see one of these???

I bet you pissed alot of people off at that show. No offense but your NEW Camaro shouldn't even be considered at a car show like that. Anyone could walk into a dealership and buy a new Camaro but only a few people take time to restore a car and preserve it. Don't take it the wrong way, your Camaro is awesome and congrats on the trophy but it doesn't belong at a show like that...especially being judged.

He did say the guy did 50 bowling pin trophies, so going off of that I assume that there were multiple categories. If this is true, then none of the 40's-90's cars would qualify for the 2000's and up class now, would it?

Gratz on the win!

I agree. Unless your 2010 Camaro is in a class like "modern muscle" or "5th gen Camaro class" it should not take a trophy away from an antique car owner.

In a car show, if the hood is open, then it can be judged. Thats what I have learned going to car shows each year. I was at a car show yesturday and was able to get one of the judging cards that was used. Thought use it for our group in Virginia when we go up to Carlisle for the GM Nationals.

I just dont' understand why people want to take away from the OP and his post sharing something like this with us. If the Car Show organizers didn't want new cars to be in it, they wouldn't have let him participate.

It was also mentioned that this was a charity/fund raiser event, so what is the big deal? To me, this just tells you it isn't a traditional "CAR SHOW", as much as it is a "FUND RAISER".

What we should be doing is giving him for donating his time and money for a good cause. The "trophy" was something he was happy to receive, just for fun.

So... congratulations Blue Angel!!!
