Borla ATAK and ARH?

Does anyone have this setup? I'm curious to what it sounds like. I'm still trying to find a new exhaust to go with my system. I need something with mufflers to try and get rid of the drone I have when the car shifts (around 2000rpms) while crusing. I still want to keep the very agressive and loud exhaust note that it has now, it's just the drone sounds stupid....and gets me pulled over..

Current setup: L99, Mangaflow Competition series axle-back, and 2"x3" American Racing headers LT's with no cats.

Here's the video of ARH with Borla ATAK axle-back.

From the video I remember, LTs and an ATAK are going to rasp to all H3LL. If you like it, cool for you, if not... I think you can have rasp without much drone though. I can tell you that from experience on my 4th Gen with LTs, cats', and a wide open Borla Adjustable CB. It'd get a tinge of rasp (because of having cats') but the drone was less than with that CB closed with the manifolds, OEM cats' and Y-pipe.

I'm sure I can live with the rasp, it's just right before, and right after the car shifts it sounds so horrible and I want that gone. I really want to keep the way the car sounds now other then that...so i'm hoping that the ATAK system will fix it.

Hmm... I'm beginning to think that maybe you're hearing the TM get in the middle of the shift. For example, my dad's '02 K1500 has some mid-length headers, true duals into Borla XR1s. There is no tuning to the truck, and other than a CAI, there are no other performance mods'. Between shifts, it goes from an almost raspy sound to this muffled friggin' V10-like-Viper exhaust sound, for just a moment until the next gear engages. My '02 Z28 would almost make that sort of sound between shifts when I had the TM in that car. Of course, these are different trannies, however, they seem almost like they're occuring at about the same times.

Anyways, if you keep cats', you can control a fair amount of rasp on the car. I think going with the ATAK, though, with LTs, may be a crap shoot. Maybe the best thing is to try to find someone with a similar setup and go on a ride along.

It's wicked loud, drag car loud, I love the sound of the car itself...just hate how it sounds when it shifts when i'm cruising around town.

I also love the idle of the car, I actually had people ask me if it was cammed. lol.

I didn't notice whether-or-not you've got a tune; do you, by chance? If not, I bet tuning that 6L80 will help get rid of that sound (since it now sounds like we may be thinking about the same thing). If you, perhaps, adjust the quickness of the shift, and maybe get rid of some TM, that might get rid of that sound. My dad's truck literally sounded like it was farting between shifts, LOL, because it's untuned. Anyways, that might be somethink you consider doing. Consider, however, you may be putting your warranty at risk, especially with that TM... That might be your only hope though...

Yeah the car is un-tuned. I was told that the car makes that noise due to that there is no longer any back pressure. I have the slightest clue on that kind of stuff.

i have the same setup as you except i have cats.

i am considering getting the ARH exhaust to replace the magnaflow axle back or get the ARH cats that fit to the stock cat-back exhaust and then fitting a Corsa LS3 cat-back system since i have AFM tuned out.

the ARH exhaust is cheaper and tones down the whole RPM range, but i don't really like the tips, and the Corsa exhaust eliminates the drone and keeps the WOT and idle like a muffler delete system.

I just placed an order for the ATAK system a few hours ago. I should have the setup on hopefully sometime this week, ill post videos. I am hoping for the best for that damn shifting noise to go away!

I love the Magnaflow comp series, but I did ended up getting sick of those big 5" exhaust tips.

RedJewel, does you're car also have that obnoxious noise when the car shifts at cruising speeds around 2k rpms?
