Stopped at the Chevy Dealership today

So the brakes on my car have started squealing really bad when they warm up, so I thought I would swing by the dealership to see if the service department was open . As luck would have it, they weren’t, so I figured I’d just call on Monday to make an appointment.

Here’s the funny part- when I pulled into the dealership there was a spot open between the Camaro’s that were on the lot, so I parked between them (I knew I wouldn’t get doored that way). As I’m walking up to my Camaro to head home, I notice there are 5 guys standing around my car. As I hit the door lock on the remote, a guy looking at mine say’s he wishes mine was for sale because it’s the only one on the lot he likes. I laugh and thank he for the compliment. He then asks me if mine is for sale, so I tell him everything is for sale for the right price, but to be honest he’d be able to buy one of the new ones for less than he could buy mine for. He smiles, compliments me on the car again, and I jump in and drive off. I couldn’t help but smile all the way from the dealership to the restaurant I met my wife for lunch at. Talk about a good day.

I found with my Brembos when they make a squeal on slow stops i take it out and do a good hard stop. It knocks the glaze off them then they are quiet again. They are a performance brake and will tend to make noise.

That's a great story. I had a similar thing happen a couple of weeks ago. I had stopped by the local Ford dealer to check out a SVT Raptor they had on the used lot and simply parked parallel on the outside of some of the other Mustangs tey had facing the road.

While I was chatting with one of the guys on the lot about the truck, I noticed a couple of guys checking out my car and one of them starts walking toward the salesman I'm speaking with. He proceed's to ask him how much they wanted for the red/silver Shelby and the salesperson, being a friend of mine, said $65K. The guy stood there for a minute before my buddy told him he was just kidding and it was my car and not for sale.

How hard of a stop are you talking about? Are you going 25mph and locking up the brakes, or are we talking 45mph and locking up the brakes?

Most dealerships service departments are now closed on saturdays, along side their parts departments.

its to save them money.

Something similar happened to me.. I went on a whim to a Chevy dealership near me because another local one didn't respond to my e-mails.. was looking at the Camaros and a salesperson came out and asked if my name was Dale.. I said no but I like this one, and we started chatting, ended up buying it a few days later. Well, when I went to pick it up, "Dale" was there looking at some other camaros, and the 2 of them were laughing because I bought the one he had made an appointment to see/planned on buying.. oh well lol, nothing but compliments so far.
