Pricing quesiton on my 2011 - Good deal or BS
Ordered my IOM SS (cloth, No RS 2011. MSRP of 33, 050.
I have a GM cerificate for preferred pricing...@ 32,250. Dealer states there is no moving from that price. Is this true? Is this an ok deal? Thanks. |

Hmm... sounds ok. Did you try building it through Edumds or Truecar? Edmunds has 11 pricing but doesn't add in the local advertising fee. Truecar does add in the fee, but only has 10 pricing right now. If you are buying a 1SS 10 pricing is the same as 11, but if you are buying a 2SS then add on $350.

If it is a 2011 and you are getting less than MSRP it is a good deal in my book...
I would see if you can try to cut a deal and pick up a free vehicle cover, engine cover, gas cap, cargo net...something small that the dealer will throw on to get you to sign. |

As for the deal, yes that's a good deal as Preferred Pricing is around invoice. |

hey guys i am sure it is posted some place but how can i find the true price of invoice ? i was told today that the dealer will sell me a car at invoice 2SS W/RS package no roof for 36.478.11 since the car is really a yr old should i be able to do better and wait ?
he was at 37.478 took a 1000 off for the pontiac rebate should he sell me the car for 36.478 and then the rebate ? he does get that back from GM right ? so at this point he is still making 1000 over invoice ? |

Eric at Classic Chevrolet has a 2011 1SS coming in, RJT for $31,612+TTL, before incentives. (Preferred pricing etc.)
So I think you can get a better price on the one you are looking at...

Yes if you have a preferred pricing authorization and you use it, the dealer is OBLIGATED to sell at that price. However, if you negotiate a price w/o telling the dealer of your authorization, you can get a lower price. The dealer gets a kickback from GM for using the authorization code you give them. So if you tell them you have one and then tell them you want a lower price than the preferred price, they will not normally do it because you are not only getting the car for a lower price, the dealer would lose the kickback from GM... So my suggestion is to never tell a dealer you have any employee/supplier/credit union discount authorization and negotiate based off of invoice.
Also, GM dealer holdback is 3% of MSRP. So all dealers actually buy the car for ~$1000 under invoice give or take. And don't forget invoice in your region may be significantly more than the invoice listed @ edmunds.com because they don't take into account the advertising fee that GM charges on a regional basis. This cost increases the regional invoice. My region's invoice is increased about $700. Other regions are around $400, there may be some with no advertising fee... who knows. No matter what, you should be able to get over $1000 off MSRP no matter what the trim and the dealer will still make several hundred in profit. If you get a fully loaded 2SS, they'll be making a killing still even at $1000 off MSRP.
