This is why the 5th Gen will always be a classic

I was a car show today enjoying all the classic cars. Afterwards I spent most of the day wondering what my 2010 will be like 30 years from now...then it dawned on me. This car is not necessarily a chick magnet....and yes I do get the occasional thumbs up from the middle aged or thirty something guy....but its the 8-10 year old boy who actually goes out of his way to tell me "nice car"....or yell across the street "I love your car".

Its these same kids that are going to want a fifth gen...just like they remembered as a kid, when they are in their 30s. This is motivation enough for me to keep my 5th Gen as pristine as can be for the next 30 years.

And the biggest victory for GM with these kids.....is that with the 5th Gen, they guaranteed that the Camaro brand will be successful far into the future.

just my 2 cents.

Hi from Boston

As a classic car owner for 21 years, I think a lot of it has to do with what you grew up with, too

I don't know if it's a chick magnet or not. I was afraid to drive mine home when I bought it so I made the guy I was seeing drive it... where in the 10 mile drive back, he got hit on TWICE in my car.

I will say it has more umph than the Mustang. Everyone compliments the Camaro (maybe because it's new) and everyone just looks over the Mustang.

True observation, I can definitely see kids growing up remembering the car for sure. Those Transformers movies were the best advertising scheme for GM in the last decade.

Agreed my neighborhood kids have done the same, it was the best compliment for me so far When one about the age of 7 stoped playing ball so he could come over and tell me how much he liked my car.

About ten kids stopped their pedal bikes and gave me thumbs up as i drove by. That's why i love this car, b/c i loved gen 1s when i was their age.

The most memorable moment I've had driving mine so far was when I was driving through a tiny little farm town. I was the only car at the red light as I waited for it to turn green. I young boy - he looked like he was about 7 years old - walked out of the corner store and saw my car. He froze. His jaw dropped and he stared at my car. He very slowly raised his hand and waved at me. I waved back and smiled. His eyes lit up and he had a huge grin on his face. You're right about kids loving this car.
