question(s)

Ok brand new to these boards. so I have a question that might seem dumb. I plan on ordering an SS soon and I have everything worked out with what I want on it. The thing i'm stuck on is, the color. I originally wanted black but having looked at some of the actual photos of the new camaro it looks like its a glossy black. For some reason i assumed it would be metallic. are there any metallic colors that are offered, because the yellow/black/inferno orange pics i have seen all look glossy, but cant tell too well. Thanks for any help and sorry if this is a dumb question.

The black is glossy. It is especially glossy in pictures because Chevrolet wants the black in shows and photos to be amazing. They do that with an extensive treatment of wax and other stuff. Some guys on the site have a better idea of how they do it than I do. If you do a site search for stuff relating to wax or shiny paint, I'm sure you'll find some great advice on how to make any color look that good.

To more directly answer your question, the black on this car is less glossy than it appears in photos, but the black is definitely not metallic. If you like dark colors, Cyber Grey is a winner because greys and silvers don't show dirt as much and it has a dark, aggressive tone.

Metallic colors are:

Inferno Orange
Red Jewel
Cyber Grey
Aqua Blue
Imperial Blue
Silver Ice

Rally Yellow, Victory Red, Summit White and Black are all non-metallic paints.

colour sanding. That's how they got the black to look so good, though I doubt they would go to that length on a produciton car.

Definitely wait, you'll want a tune for those parts anyway so it would be best to get aftermarket parts that will give more hp. ie long tube headers, the shorties won't make a huge difference from the stock exhaust manifold.

Disclaimer aftermarket parts and tune could void your drivetrain warranty.

I thought as much; there's a rally yellow cobalt across the street and it looks really "lemony" and, although bright, doesn't look as good as the SEMA rally yellow camaro. I wanted yellow for the whole "bumblebee" thing, but seeing it in the real world doesn't do much for me. I'm also wondering if rally + hockey stripes (if they end up offering such a combo) might help by contrasting against the yellow. Thoughts?

I would also wait.

I have no doubt that the GMPP exhaust will sound good, but it will have a specific sound to it, and you may find that you want something different. The GMPP system likely be rather mellow to meet all EPA sound regs, but something like a Flowmaster or Corsa is going to be very aggressive.

The aftermarket will have much better headers. The exhaust is usually really good from GMPP, though, so you might want to check that out after driving your car for a while. Intakes usually aren't that big a deal, so you should just save up for something that really matters to you, like rims, stereo, or a forced induction. That's just my opinion.
