Unhappy Road Paint on my car :(

Yesterday I was while I was driving down the highway they were repainting the lines, and they basiccly spray paint the roads with this giant truck. Today while i was cleaning my car i noticed white spots all over the back both side mirrors so i looked very close it and thought it looked like paint and i tried washing it off and i wouldn't come off so i tried scratching it with my nails and i could get a little bit to come off but not much i told my mom and dad my dad said to use nail polish remover and my mom said no that would ruin the paint. Can anyone tell what the best way to get rid of the paint would be?

Ack that sucks. They repaint all the time here with that stupid mag chloride they put on the ground for the snow. I'm not looking forward to that season at all! Good luck getting it off. Did you try extremely hot soapy water? Might even try a pressure washer sprayer, that's gotten some of the worst off of my work cars with no damage to the paint.

I had this same thing happen...yellow line paint on a burgundy red car...

I called the state DOT and told them what happened. They asked me where it happened; I told them the location and they verified that they had one of their painting contractors working there, and had other complaints that they had a paint mist that stuck to several cars...bottom line... I had to take it to a body shop, and they had to buff the entire car. I had them bill the state, and they took care of it.
Try calling your DOT...

Wow, that's nice of them to foot the bill. I wouldn't expect that here at all.

I had exact same thing happen here.
Yellow paint on black car.
I had to buff it off.
It actually comes off really easy.

You could try wax and grease remover or even a good paint reducer. I've used both successfully.

Both remove wax so you'll want to re wax afterwards.

Like others said contact your states DOT. I've heard that they will pay to get paint removed from cars and waaxed....

Lacquer thinner is good for removing some paint w/o damage. I had to remove a bunch of yellow stripe paint once and my neighbor (body shop guy) recommended it. Worked very well.

I would think clay barring the car would take it off pretty easily. Just make sure you wax after doing it as the clay bar will strip the old wax.

Assuming you waxed it relatively recently, this shouldn't be much of a problem.

Wash the car real well....don't scrub, just wash it....then use a good tar/grease remover (I like the Prep Solve from Hi Temp)....if the spots don't come off with that, try to use a clay bar and the activator. If that doesn't work, use a fine-grit rubbing compound and lightly "buff" the spots off (you can probably do it by hand...use a circular motion, not back and forth....you know, "wax on, wax off"...not "paint the fence" or "paint the house"...lol).

Assuming you get it all off, you'll have to wash the car and wax it again.

Good luck.

You can use goof off on the car, it will strip the wax that is on there, but it does not strip the factory paint.

I would first try scrubbing the hell out of it with a clay bar. Don't lightly mist it and gently go over it, but saturate it, and scrub the hell out of it. That will take off the stubborn bits.

I had concrete sealant overspray all over my camry that I had. Even then after clay barring it, I turned my adams pads gray with the porter cable.

try this before thinner. The thinner will cut through the clear coat slightly
