Any speculation on what the new Bumblebee is?

Clearly very different with what appears to be functional side scoops???

EASY ANSWER.......NONE OF THE ABOVE. Its a SHOW CAR, just like the original concept car.

Whats your basis? I think the original bb was darn near the current SS.

The only reason I feel like they'd change it is to build excitement about some new alteration or change?

It has new side windows, new side skirts, new front splitter, new fog lights, new mirrors, and a new spoiler. Thats too subtle to be just a new concept, I think its got to be a rendition of the new model of some sort.

Except the original Bumblebee was almost all fiberglass and based off of the concept and not the production. In both movies the gas cap was on the rear deck and not on the side. The car was not based off of the LT or SS.

Just some info on the origianal Bee from movie 1.

According to the story, there were two versions of Bumblebee built for filming. The first one was completed in 30 days and both done in less than 45 days. Fabrication was done at Saleen's 280,000 square foot facility in Troy, Michigan. Steve Minn, vehicle coordinator for the film, recommended Saleen because they had built the Cobras used in xXx.
GM looked to their inventory and found the current GTO was the closest to the concept Camaro in size. With data and some sections and wheelbase drawings from GM, Saleen began their fabrication. The two Pontiac GTOs came from GM's R&D fleet and Joe Miesak (Saleen) went to work.
The fiberglass bodies were cast using the same molds GM used to build the two concept cars.
The interior looks much like the concept Camaro because the dashboard shell covers the original GTO instrumentation and the seats and interior handles came directly from the GTO as well.
GM had a say in the paint work. Supplied by Valspar Automotive finishes, code PBC30 -- Sunrise Yellow, Bumblebees paint looks great!
They altered the original stripes planned by Saleen to more closely resemble the Rally stripes from the 1969 Camaro.

Personally I just think it is the original movie car modified to a new level

There is no 2012 body update although the Z28 may have a new or similar fascia if the rumors are true. Otherwise they simply have taken some real Camaros and modified them to look like the movie car which looked closer to the concept. Thats why the doorhandles are like that.

yep, BB is the concept car. The whole time, they just add new bumpers and new stripes, etc. The side mirrors are evident of that =)

I seriously doubt there are going to be significant body changes until the next generation. Facias, wheels, lights, and trim are likely (I believe '12 marks an interior redesign), but aside from powertrain updates/upgrades, I doubt much more.

It's just the Leno car (body wise) with a paint job, GM 21"s and a ridiculous spoiler. There have been a lot of rumors that the Leno car was a glimpse at the Z28 so it is very possible that TF3 BB has some Z28 parts on it. I doubt it is a 100% production intent Z28 though.

Just a tricked out stock 2010/11 to look new and cool for the movie. Pretty nice I think.

TF1 bumblebee was based on the concept
TF2 bumblebee looks like it was based off of the SLP ZL575 or ZL550
TF3 bumblebee looks like its based off of the Leno concept car

I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)
