Intake location question

This may be a noobie question.

My injen cold air intake just came in and i looked at the instructions. I have NEVER modded a car before so this is my first and i am pretty nervous (mostly about parts of my warranty being voided). anyways, I was looking at the way the intake looked after it was finished and noticed that it actually goes down near the tires right behind the engine mud guard.

Well, my question is that since its closer to the ground compared to other intakes i've seen installed, does it make it more dangerous for my engine when it rains. Especially when its raining and i accidently run over a huge puddle of water.

Thanks!

I drove mine through heavy rain yesterday (even hydro-planed at about 70mph) and mine ran fine.

Should be sealed. If not you have bigger things to worry about before the flood comes like dust and sand when it is dry.

From what I remember, the only way you can really harm your engine with an intake that is that low, is if you park/submerge your car so that the intake is completely underwater, causing you to hydrolock your engine, see CATASTROPHIC FAILURE!

So you should be fine, could get the hydro shield to be safe, just don't go in big puddles or larger!

yeah, the order came with a hydro shield but i skeptical if it actually could keep water out.

I believe it will repel most of the water, if not all. Never had one with my cobalt injen intake as I got sick and tired of converting for SRI to CAI, so I left it a SRI.

THanks!

For the people that have the injen intake installed, did you guys re-install the washer fluid or did you just leave it out?

Well... I just drove through a horrific thunderstorm coming home from Detroit! It was incredible! At one point there was a HUGE amount of standing water on the highway! It was coming down so hard people were parking on the shoulder... Going through the standing water I was throwing up a HUGE WALL of water on both sides of the car!!! I was going around 20 MPH... I must admit I was a bit worried... But I came through it with no problems what so ever! Even the Nitto NT555Rs did fine! And they have 8500 miles on them!

I haven't had any problems in the rain, and also I installed the washer fluid. Why would you want to leave it out?
