Moving to Northern California
Hey everyone I am moving to California in the San Larendo area and I first want to say Hi to everyone and I also was wondering what you guys might recommend for internet service providers. Right now I have qwest in Albuquerque, but I don't think they offer them in California.
I have heard mixed about Time Warner, and pretty good things about comcast. Although comcast is usually the most expensive. Or if there are any other recommendations let me know. Thanks Guys! |

I have been wanting to try it, but not here yet. I have ATT DSL, no idea on cable. HaHa first vote!

I have Atnt. They have been the best so far! Comcast sucks! I would rather use Morris Code then ever use Comcast services again!

I have AT&T but I haven't tried any of the others you listed. AT&T isn't bad but I feel it could be better.

Comcast is Win. Congrats on your new move...
Comcast or AT&T are the two ones that I would recommend. Comcast has terrible cable service though. |

Haha everyone is voting other. Yeah Comcast is kinda lame, but gets the job done. I love AT&T. I have heard nothing but horror stories from Time Warner customers.. so I say stay away.

Comcast cable feels like its out for a hour or two at least once a week. The internet is pretty fast and reliable though.
Go figure |

Only Bay Area Verizon landline is in Los Gatos, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, Novato and the last 5 year plan I saw there was no Fios planned for the area. Maybe with sale to Fronter (sp) of all the other territory they will re-think it but I doubt it! ATT has problems, they didn't run their fiber to the customer and the bit of copper left in the system causes a big bandwidth road block. Comcast has the best overall product, phone, TV and internet going since you can't get Verizon Fios here. I may be wrong but Comcast ate up all the Time Warner in the bay area about a decade ago...
I have Comcast and the VOIP phone service and internet they serve up is as good as or better than what I got from ATT when I had them and the internet is much faster. Comcast TV/HDTV is far better than the Direct and Dish I had in the past as well. I can only remember 2-3 Comcast outages in the 3-4 years I have had tripple play. Once was because PG&E power was out for 12 hours and my phone batter backup was only good for about 6 hrs... Hey, Welcome to the Bay Area by the way!

Yeah agreed. I used to have Comcast Cable and the speed was great but we went weeks without internet a few times and I'm in a major suburb. I eventually gave up and switched to AT&T SBC Yahoo DSL. For like $35 a month I get their fastest package.

We have comcast and really like it. We have had problems with our DVR machines (like freezing up and not recording the Daytona 500 last year) but we just take them back to the Comcast stores they have here. It was as simple as giving them our phone number, and exchanging the DVR boxes.
I haven't had problems with their customer service on the phone either. |

I use AT&T DSL, speed is a bit slow at times. The AT&T uptime is ok. Welcome to the Bay Area, why the move?

Comcast is a big on good promo prices that turn into EXPENSIVE regular prices after 3 months. However, we're stuck with them. No one else covers our area :(
