base camaro beats out 2010 mustang in pricing war?
so ladies and gents...
i gotta say, i'm rather impressed by GM. for the first time in a long long time, it's been able to beat out ford at making a low-priced muscle car. all hail the camaro, king of value in the muscle realm. base price of 2010 v6 mustang: $21,845 base price of 2010 v6 camaro: $21,495 (this is the assumption that the released mustang pricing does not include the destination charge). and now, for $350 less you get: -1" larger stock rims -90 more hp -1 more gear in the tranny -two sided exhaust -irs and now the v8 comparison: base price of 2010 v8 mustang: $30,095 base price of 2010 v8 camaro: $29,495 for $600 less you get: -1" larger stock rims -110 more hp -1 more gear in the tranny -brembo disk brakes all around -irs i'm not gonna lie, ford's trying to dump the v8 by making the v6 look a lot better then it's bigger brother but cheers to gm for nailing this. now, lets see those curb weight figures... |

But still.....the 2010 pricing gap is narrower than it was with the 2009 Mustang prices. Now we are just talking a couple hundred bucks with the destination charges of $795 added in to the 2010 Mustang price. Ford doesn't include the destination charges in the MSRP according to thier website.

Pricing I've seen for the GT is for the GT Premium which probably has a couple more options than a base SS.

Just walk into a Ford dealership. MSRP means, nothing.
$26-27 for a new premium GT. 2010 will be no different come mid year. Event he GT500s are going for sticker or just sitting on the lots. I was not old enough for the 70s gas prices that killed the muscle cars. But the economy is going to kill/hurt them this time.

Just wait, If GM gets the money they are asking for, there are going to be rules that go along with it. Don't be surprised if the tree hugging pols put in a law that only allows them to sell certain cars with certain gas mileage etc.
This is how government get control. Money talks.

Don't know where the OP got the pricing from....
30K is for the Mustang GT PREMIUM. Which is compared to a CAMARO 2SS which costs 3k more. The base Mustang GT will cost 27-28k still 2-3k cheaper than a Camaro 1SS.
