avg. oil psi cold and hot and oit temp
Was wondering what everybody elses ls3 ss oil temp got up to and avg psi at idle, driving, cold and hot? My temp seems to get up to 220 and bout 35 psi cold idle, around 20 to 25 psi hot and bout 45 or the (3rd) mark on gauge anyway when cruisen!Does that sound normal?I'm used to higher psi but never had ls3 either. Im just curious to know! Btw I just done my 1st oil change too at 1500 miles 8qt!wow And while on subject on temps how many believe in the 220 thermostat?or should that be lowered

oil 200-210 - pressure idle cold 55 psi to 60 psi -idle hot 35-40 psi -crusing approx. 50-55 psi. I would like the hot idle psi to be a little higher. Engine temp when hot high 190 s to 210.

The problem is - and I experience it with the Avlanche is that GM has cut back on the oil pressure in some of their newer motors and the engine in the truck only has about 45 PSI cold idle and has about 10 psi for every 1000 rpms above that. With no redline in the tach and you can almost take the engine to 7000 rpms with no effects to the motor. Except for the one time when I had the transmission in manual, I have never hit the rev limiter. In first gear, with a 6 speed transmission and 3:23 gears, that was about 40 mph and about 6,000 rpm's. |
