Advice on good sound quality sub please...

I haven't bought a sub in a long time and I was just needing some advice on a really good sound quality 12" sub for my Camaro. I don't care at all about shaking the neighborhood but I do want really good sound. I was looking at JL but they are just too expensive I think. So I have narrowed it down to the Boston G312-44 (best Boston's I could find) or the Polk SR124-DVC. The Boston is about $160 and the Polk is gonna be like $230 but I just don't have a clue who is good and who isn't now and no luck finding that out on the internet search engines. Anyway, any advice would help or any other brand recommendations as well. Sorry if there are already a million of these threads. Thanks

Steve @ ******** is all you need to know. He is a forum sponsors and makes some great boxes. Many here have ordered from him, and have not regretted it.

Kicker "Solo Classic" subs are great subs for the price. There are soooooo many options out there it is very hard to give you solid advice without knowing your music preferences. Do you want deep rumble, hard hitting thump, somewhere in the middle, etc?

If the Boston sub is anything like the rest of thier speakers, I'd pass on that one.

Yeah, I am getting the box from ******** but just can't decide on the sub. I listen mainly to grungy stuff like Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Shinedown and stuff like that. I like the occasional Eminem when I need a laugh but rarely ever listen to any rap stuff. I just like hard hitting, tight, clear bass.

Nice taste in music.

Kicker Solo is better suited for the "rap" style IMO.

I'm going with the Large 10" box from ******** with either the 400.1 kicker amp and CVR sub or a Diamond Audio Technology D310 sub and Arc audio XXD1500. I will be upgrading the rest of the system later, so I figure the Kicker stuff will fill the void missing from the BA system.

RF makes a good sub for our style of music as well. I liked the older stuff better than the newer stuff, hence the switch to Kicker.

Diamond Audio Technology makes a good quality product too, if you are looking for something that isn't "main stream"......... yet. (As soon as they kick up the $$$ for advertising they will give the "big boys" all they can handle.)

i have a single BA G312 and its been in my camaro for almost a year now. The sound quality is great and it hits pretty hard. Im not looking to shake the neighborhood either but i do like deep, great sounding base and this sub delivers. Occasionally i do like to kick up the gain and get a nice back massage

well i will be frank, if you want clean solid sound then i would go with a sealed box, and a arc amp or an audison amp. also hertz audio is great for SQ.

only problem those are a little higher then what you want to spend, the hertz energy 12" sounds great, with a 3 year warranty for $300. i am running one with about 350watts in my scion with a sealed box custom made out of fiberglass and i will put down money that people have thought i was running two 12" subs. also they loved how it hit hard and solid, i would open the hatch and it still would hit with out bottoming out or getting distorted. alot has to do with how you set it up and your tunning, these speakers do require a break in period before you actually crank them to break in the coil. also every speaker is tested before they are packed. check them out.

go to www.hertzaudiovideo.com you can see the specs of every speaker and you could also compare to others if you would like to see the difference in the brands by features.

you could contact indopower and he will vouch for the product, i got him sold over the product after showing the same thing to you and answering questions. he was so satisfied that even when he got jacked he came back to me asking to help him get another set up.

let me know.

Woops I meant the Kicker CVR is the only way to go. I have a 12 in my trunk and it is plenty! I found Steve to have the best price too. That sub is monsterious and sounds great!

I have the JBL W10Gti's right now but we're changing my setup tonight. Looks like its gonna be a JBL W15gti instead. They are sound quality subwoofers.

really good SQ sub - that wont break the bank and wont break the windows...

my list of SQ subs that meet that is kinda short, but here goes:
Dayton HO 10 (or 12)
DIYMA 12
PG RSDc 10
JBL GTO 10
Sundown SA-10
Arc Audio
Image Dynamics

There are WAY too many to really list them all... but thats the list of subs I have personally heard or used in SQ setups that I was real impressed with.

The JL subs have never impressed me (never heard a W7 personally, though the cost of them is absurd so I probably never will).

75% of how a sub sounds and performs is going to be the enclosure and where you mount it... so dont spend too much time fretting over which sub, just go get one... the JBL subs are astonishing for how inexpensive they are. The PG subs are amazing for how fast the cone is and how small an enclosure they take and still dig deep. I would get whichever one of those that you can the cheapest and then spend the time and money to make sure the enclosure and location are perfect, that will get you what you are looking for... the sub alone is really relatively minor in the whole equation.

Lol, now I'm really confused! No, I kinda like the idea of something out of the mainstream a bit and researched that Image Dynamics IDQ V3 and seems like it might be a really good sub - a little more pricey than some but not as much as plenty of others. May give it a try.
