Sound Processor Questions. JBL
I have 2 twelve inch kicker cvr's with a kicker 2x750.1 amplifier and the Boston Acoustics upgraded sound system, I know my aftermarket items aren't top of the line.
My question is a sound processor out of line for my system, and how exactly would it improve system. What is the difference between these 2 JBL products, and are there any other quality Brand's out there more in line with my systems price range? JL Audio CL441dsp CleanSweep® JBL MS-8 Thanks in advance Jesse |

IMO - if your not going to compete or spend a quite a bit on the rest of your system, I wouldnt worry about a processor.
the MS-8 is supposed to be a REALLY nice unit, and at 800.00 or so, it should be. On top of that, being that its JBL, its probably really solid. The Cleansweep basically takes your OEM signal and cleans it up, eq's it to flatten out the signal then sends the signal on to an aftermarket amp or two... There are lots of sound processors on the market, it just depends on what you want it to do, how much flexibility you want, etc... Fosgate Alpine MTX Audison AudioControl the list goes on. However, if your just looking for good sound without spending a ton of money - I.e. if your not planning on adding a new set of components and a new amp for the fronts, I wouldnt worry about the processing. just add the subs, tune them and enjoy your much better sounding stereo system.

The MS-8 does offer a very nice feature if you are not looking to add tons of money in amps. it has a build in amplifier (would be at least the saem true RMS power as the BA amp in there now. if not more.) also with all the processing availble in it it will clean up the audio and make it sound amazing.
The JL Audio Clean Sweep does not have "processing" functions like what you are looking for. it is a summming unit to, as mentioned above, clean up and send out a good signal. the RF 360.2 audison Bitone and the others will require multiple amps for the system. I do prefer the bitone over the others... based on advanced tunability and when compared to the MS-8.... I think the 8 is an easier initial setup of the 1 but I think overall I (me) still prefer the Bitone (mainly as a result of laptop tuning as opposed to the 8 having to be setup thrugh the little display) jst my opinion FWIW. |

I'll tell you first hand as a Team Member for JBL and a proud owner of an MS-8 it does everything that the cleansweep will do but it will also really glorify the way your boston acoustics speakers sound. I have personally heard it in over 10 camaros with a stock Boston Acoustics System. its incredible the difference and your center channel will actually be worth something to you.
watch this! The very last of the video has a demo of the ms8 you will notice a drawing of a basic car showing you soundwaves. This unit really makes that much of a difference. It even made a difference in my fully designed professional sound quality system installed by none other than Gary Biggs Himself (He's the guy showing up on this video before you hit play.. He will be the 3rd person to speak.) Dont be afraid of the pricetag.. its a much cheaper way to fully upgrade your existing setup and you will be glad you did.

anyone know to what level, if any, GM has their factory deck output equalization compensated for the BA system. That is, how unflat is the frequency response - are there significant band regions tuned down in the system at volume to protect the speakers or for whatever other reason?
From listening close to the BA upgrade I own, my guess is a probable yes. Unless the BA peakers are really that poor. Thats where the Processor especially comes in to work, and thus justified to spend money on. I was looking at the Cleansweep as well, but am dissapointed there is no specific output for subwoofer, but I could be missing something there. |

The MS-8 has a sub out! :-)
Got the new setup installed fri night at around 3am and hit the road at 9am.. Was worth the drive.. didnt have much tuning time to fine tune the MS-8 but with my setup I took 1st in Modex class and 1st in Modified class @ meca.. I also won best camaro, 1st in domestic car 90 and above and 3rd in best of the best. GO JBL!! Team JBL took home over 14 trophies and some $$$$$!
