Question USB Flash Drive

So I got a Flash Drive, put some music on it, plugged it in to my new Camaro and nothing happened.

If you could, and feel free to assume I am retarded, please let me know how to make a Flash drive work with a Camaro.

  1. How should the USB Flash drive be formatted?
  2. What file formats work?
  3. Is there anything I need to do after I plug it in to make the player recognize it?
  4. How do I select USB vs. say XM, CD, FM etc?
Thank you in advance.

Were they MP3s? Do they have DRM on them?

Plain MP3s, no DRM.

I have reformatted the device to FAT32, and ensured there is nothing but MP3s on there. I think before there were some DRM files on the device too.

Gonna try again this morning.

To choose the USB port, just press the wheel on the steering wheel until Aux input. Mine will say Aux Out, or something like that, so I press the wheel again & it'll say USB mass storage device. It may automatically do this anyways.
I've found it to be a lesson in frustration though.
I bought a Duracell 16gb drive and put some music on it. They were in separate folders. It worked the first time, so I put some more on it. It would then start playing the first song while it indexed the files, then it would say that there are no supported files on the drive & switch to the CD.
I bought an 8gb San Disk Cruzer to see if it was the make of drive & it does the same thing.
I've tried fewer songs & putting them on the drive without folders, but it still doesn't work.
If I leave the drive in & let it play a CD, it'll keep switching to the USB drive, say that there are no supported files & then load the CD again.

1) How big is the flash drive?
2) How many songs did you load onto it?
3) Where did you get the songs from? Downloaded? iTunes? Ripped from CD?

(By the way, if you downloaded the songs through someplace like demonoid, or other illegal file sharing network, Camaro5 frowns upon that. In that case, just say you bought and then ripped the CD yourself )
