unfortunately the only way you'll get insurance is to leave out the fact that it is supercharged

and all that really means is that if you total out the car don't expect to get reimbursed for the modification of the supercharger

I am insured with them as well. I had to contact them last week for something else. At the time I was told that they must be informed of any extra we put on the car. For instance, they would not insure my car if I had racing stripes on it or if I were to participate in car shows!!!!

TD meloche monnex is a joke, i had recently had an accident (not in the camaro, but thats why i bought the camaro), it was not my fault, i fought tooth and nail to ge appropriate compensation, in the end, i had to bypass TD (who was supposed to be working for me on my behalf) and went to the other at fault insurance company, they gave me what i was asking with no hessitation. i immediatly canceled both car policies and my home policy and went to RBC. their rates were better and now i have more coverage. Run away from TD and go somewhere else. thank your lucky stars that you wont be insured with them, they will screw you any chance they have.

I`m with TD - Primmum and when I called last week I asked them if it was cheaper if I go to Car shows....I wanted a YES or NO answer and then they asked me a dozen questions`.....where do you go...how many times...what do you do there....Also did you do mods...I was all I wanted was a Y or N answer....Anyways they called back and gave me another 10% discount and going to car shows will not change anything. I asked why about the mods..they answered it would bring the value up . I told them tinting windows and stripes & exhaust will not up the price So I`m suppose to tell them about any more Mod upgrades if I do them....

The impacts Rick is referring to relate to vehicle usage (it used to be just pleasure vs. work - now they have varying degrees of each) and replacement value. Rider's issue (the refusal to insure a supercharged car) is about perceived driver risk. Which is total BS. If my insurance co. did that to me (not that I'm supercharged) I'd first of all say F'-you, go F' yourselves. But then I'd ask them " would this situation be any different if I made 7 figures / year and I bought the Caddi CTS V which is a sports "Sedan" that comes from the factory supercharged???!!!"

I should also say, I don't know your driving/insurance claims record. If it's clean then you probably don't want to be with that company anyway.

Does that mean Slick can't drive the car anymore?

I have lived in BC since 1982.....as much as I'm a free marketeer....ICBC is GREAT. I have NO complaint with them at all.

I hear stories like this and once again I thank the fact we have a government agency doing our insurance. I have always found them quiet reasonable to deal with.

Like Scott said ask them for a quote for the CTS-V to see if they insure it. Also wait a few days and ask Chris to see what his insurance will do after he installs his SC..
