How many miles on car first time at the track
They are having a car show next week at my local 1/4 mile track and I was considering running my SS. I have just over 1000 miles on her. I been at times taking her out for some hard runs but not sure if she is ready for the track. Also did anyone change the rear oil like the manual recommends?

I'm sure I'm not the lowest but I had roughly 200 miles on mine when I first took it. Basically the drive to the strip. Now with 50+ low 11 high 10 passes I haven't changed the rear end fluid.

Change the rear fluid and go!
The fluid in there has a lot of metal shavings.. everyone that the rear diff fluid so far has commented on it.. all have looked the same. |

WOW only 200 miles, NICE! LOL 570hp I was planning on doing the first oil change at 1500 miles and do the rear oil at the same time. Do you think it would matter if I run the car next week at the track and then get the oils changed later?

Those metal shavings are my secret to speed! I guess after this weekend time at the strip and a drive I'll change it out. Just hope I don't get slower.
![]() It won't matter. Run your car and have fun. Change the fluids when you have a chance. What track are you going to? I assume you mean next weekend, being 8/14. We may head down to Jersey tomorrow night for a little T & T. |

I have 2500 miles on my car... MOST of the miles are on racetracks.
1000 miles on the street 1500 miles on various tracks 8000 miles on truck and trailer getting to and from the racetracks. Sure... change after if you want... I drained the diff and trans at 1000 miles and put in good quality fluids. |

I picked up my car on a Wednesday and put the car on the Thunderbolt track at New Jersey Motorsports Park that Saturday. When I went through tech inspection, the guy said something like, "Hey, you only have 600 miles on your car! Awesome!".
I ran my two morning sessions but kept it under 5000rpm, had the oil changed at Jiffy Lube during lunch, and ran the motor up to the rev limiter that afternoon and all day Sunday. My car has 4000 miles on it now, around 1000 are on road courses. Go drive the car, that's what they made it for!

I had almost 40,000 miles on it the first time I took my V6 to the track.

Took mine to the track with about 200 miles on it. Ran the snot outta it right from the dealership. First oil change was at 3k miles. No problems, still running the snot outta it.

I had 3100 miles before I took it down the track at C5F. I changed the engine oil with Mobile 1 before the trip.
