Oil Catch can not needed on L99??

Since the PCV is pumped back into cyl heads and not the valley on a L99 why would a catch can be needed?

I know it needs neg pressure to draw oil, but why do they say its routed back to Cylinder head?

If the LS3 has air/oil separator on both the clean and foul side as the article below states, why is a oil catch can needed?

This catch can stuff is new to me, just asking.

There are only two places that will produce negative pressure, that you can draw from. One is the exhaust, the other is the intake. Since the intake provides more vacuum, this is the optimal place. Since the intake is used, it draws that pressure (with oil vapor) into the intake air which goes into the intake plenum, then to the cylinder heads. This isn't the ideal situation for maintaining high performance. It won't kill your engine but it will degrade it's performance. A $100 catchcan is cheap insurance to keep your engine running at peak performance.

Not sure where that oil/air seperator is located, but there isn't one between the valve cover and the intake pipe.

I'm glad for the info about it needing the pressure from the intake to operate correctly...I was thinking about just slapping a filter on the end of the hose from the catch can like I did on my bike

You can do that but it won't be as effective and what happens to the oil when the filter gets soaked? Had one on my old Talon Turbo and it got oil EVERYWHERE under the hood.

Well I was thinking if I put it past the catch can...so it shouldn't do that? But since the intake provides vacuum for the system I am planning on just hooking it all up.
