You technically would not have to upgrade your internals.
We are doing the exact same thing with the eforces, magnachargers, vortechs, prochargers, etc. without internal modifications and are able to make up into the high 500 rwhp #'s. If you were going to upgrade internals, there is a myriad of combo's that you can put together via the aftermarket that would cost you less money and net better results over LS9 internals. I would, however, be interested to know the power limits of the LS9's internals. |

We just tuned a LS9 Vette and stock it only made 530hp/500tq. I see no problem at all putting a LS9 blower onto a stock LS3.The only big difference is to NOT run a tune from a LS9 since the heads are completely different and the LS9 runs a ton of timing.
If you are going with motor work, no reason to not just do a 418ci forged shortblock.More power/torque everywhere. |

You can call you local GM dealer and get pricing on pistons and rods if you like, but you may be better suited to just install a forged piston (diamond, CP, Arias ect) and forged rod (callies, oliver, carillo ect) this may be more cost effective and a better solution for long term engine longevity.
however the stock ls9 block we have pushed to 905 wheel horsepower in our twin turbo Zr1, it is the highest hp to date that we are aware of, so the LS9 can certainly handle the power! Regards |
