Kooks long tubes, catless mids and flowmaster cat back
Hi guys... Ive been lurking on the boards for a while now and figured now is the time to make a post! I have a 2010 2ss/RS MT... I have been saving some cash and now have enough for some mods.. im looking at doing a intake, long tubes, and catback, I can go catless.and also have PCM for less (tick perfromance) do a tune for me.. I live in charlotte nc but still have a house in SC where the car is registered (parents) so emissions are not a issue...
Now my questions are, does anyone have a video/sound clip of a 2ss with Kooks longtubes, no cats and the flowmaster cat back... also with a cai? and as far as cai I heard the vararam(sp?) is the best... im getting the car tunes anyway so a unit that requires tuning does not bother me... im just looking at making the most HP, also what are some HP/TQ #'s to expect with this setup? Thanks for any help guys... PS: is there a reason why the flowmaster setup is almost 50% the price of other catbacks? |

You should pick up 40-60 rwhp. I would go with the Roto-Fab CAI. I got it because of the Janetty testing on these and there look and options are cool as well. The flowmaster you are looking at may not be stainless steel and if it is there is no way it is 409 like magnaflow/corsa/borla. Your car is going to be quite a bit louder with the LT's, so don't let anyone talk you in to something you are not sure about. I am taking my Corsa off and installing a magnaflow 2.5" street cat back to quiet mine down. The Corsa sounded awesome with the stock manifold but the LTs really make things a lot louder. I have an E-Force SC as well and I'm sure all the forced air is part of the noise as well. Good luck.

You may just want to go with headers and stick with the stock exhaust. The stocked exhaust isnt that bad and from what I hear your not going to pick up that much hp with another catback.
I like the way it sounds. Not loud at idle but when you get on it it sounds like music. |

I would recommend keeping the cats irregardless of your local laws. It is not really worth the added hassle deleting them. Either way, if you would like help picking things out, call us @ 443-730-9428. We have helped a lot of people with headers and such.

I agree I wouldent mind having some Hi-flow cats like solo or something but from what ive seen im going to have to dish out something like an extra $500 or so... if you know something differant please let me know. as far as hassle with the kooks long tubes cant i just get that off road mid-pipe?

There's definately the issue of money (catted mids vs catless).
You'll also get a more aggressive sounding exhaust if you go catless. I switched out my catted mids for some catless mids over the summer. That made my setup noticeably louder. Nothing drastic, but definately louder and more aggressive sounding. |
