Another "Disable Running Lights" Thread
I've searched through all the existing threads and I haven't found the specific details I'm looking for.
My situation is that I installed RS HIDs with the OttoBody kit. They work great, and I wired my Halos to be always on. So what I want to do is disable the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) in the computer, so that the halo's will BE the DRLs. I know you can turn the knob and thats what I do when I think of it, but usually I don't. And the E brake thing... thats more work than just using the switch, not sure why anyone would use that method. Also back to the knob, I still want automatic headlights. I just don't want my low beams as DRLs. My computer needs to think there will be no DRL's because it doesn't know that I even have halos, nevermind that they are on. I used an add-a-fuse adapter in the ignition slot to power the halos. Looks great. SO moving on, I do know someone that works at a GM dealership. But I was told that you don't use Tech2's anymore (its been about 7 years since i worked at a dealership), you use a laptop that plugs into the car. And I'm told it's a pain in the ass to use. Soooooo maybe someone can give me all the specific info I need to pass on to this guy, so he can do it easily? Like which menus to navigate to or which codes to enter. Whichever way it works, I have no idea. But that would be very helpful!

just connect a wire from the DRL + wire to the sidemarker + wire and voila! your halos are automatically on during the day and at night like mine!
![]() i have the BFXenon RS HID Kit, and i originally had the AAC LED DRL bulbs with their "wiring harness" to keep the halos on during the day and DRLs on at night. that "wiring harness" consisted of 2x 8" long wires and 4 T-taps to connect the wires like i just stated above. since the HID lights do not draw power from the stock DRL wires, i felt it was safe to leave the "halo wiring harness" in place so they stayed on automatically during the day.

now that i read your OP again, i think you do not want to have to use any wires to be able to keep them on as DRLs, you want them to be like that through the computer... which i think will be easier said than done... just keep it how it is and you'll be fine.

I think your best bet would be to do as Jewel did and get the AAC harness. I think it's only like $10. If I understand it correctly, it has the halo's and DRL's on all the time. I think with the AAC P13W's they won't get too hot either.

He has a non-RS car with RS headlights, meaning his low beams are his DRL's while his fog lights are fog lights. He wants to disable the low beams as DRL's and have the Halo's on instead.
I am trying to figure this out too. Isn't there a relay inside the fuse box that controls when the DRL's are on? |

Yeah, what that last guy said. My halos are already on all the time. I just need to kill the DRLs (which are my low beams) thus making my halos, my DRLs. Also AAC sucks, I bought a harness from them already, everything on it was wrong. Then they told me the problem was I don't know how to read a wiring diagram.

What exactly does the AAC DRL harness do? It looks like it makes your fog lights into your DRLs, which is not what I want. Plus I already have two Otto Harnesses, how many harnesses can my headlights take?
