Gas mileage comparison to my former car

I had a 2005 Mazda rx8 before my camaro. That car required premium gas and averaged 16 to 18 mpg. I would fill up every 5 days or so. Now with the camaro I'm on my 10th day on the same tank of gas! I still drive about the same amount each week as I did before. I am very impressed that this car is so powerful yet so fuel efficient!

Oh, yeah I have the v6 too but put in premium. You should try it the next time you need to fill up. The car feels different, but in a good way

yeah I've heard those wankels are horribly inefficiant. Even in such a small car.

I used regular in my '04 RX-8 and it actually felt a little faster - others have noticed this too on the boards. The cost is the mpg though, I'm getting around 18 in my V6 Camaro and about 17 in the RX-8.

No doubt. Fun car but they should learn to use a regular engine in them. They hardly sold any this year so they are being discontinued. I heard they might. Bring back the rx7 but still going to use a newly designed rotary again.

I was afraid to use regular cuz I had extended warranty and didn't want to void it. I get about 22 mpg in the camaro on average.

22 mpg is good, I'm all city driving so I don't get to stretch her legs often. Gotta love the Camaro's flat torque band compared to the RX-8s peaky rotary...it always made me ultra paranoid taking her to 8000 rpm then dropping the clutch. And then if you don't do that, you're getting beat off the line by minivans.

Oh yeah the rx8 was awful at the starting line! I really wish they would keep the looks of the car and just give up the rotary engine! That engine has caused nothing but problems for Mazda!

I last drove a Jeep Grand Cherokee... got about 9-12mpg. Now I get over 19. HUGE difference. I fill up once a week and I'm good. I fill only premium... that is until the prices shoot back up. But now it's $2.60 or so here.
