I can afford about negative $300/month with negative $5,000 down. I'm kinda screwed at the moment...

$500 a month for my 2SS/RS. I also find it funny that people say not to buy or negotiate using monthly payment. I know what $500 a month is for 72 months. I would feel like I got a great deal if I am pying $500 or less. More for my trade, less for my trade, more for the car or less for the car; I don't care how they get there, just get there.

^^ Agreed about negotiating payments - as long as you include all the variables, it doesn't matter. Tell the dealer you want an $XXX/mo payment with a X-month loan... then let them play around with bottom line price and interest rate to get you to your number.

In my case, a 5 year loan from my credit union gets me $433/month with my estimates for my trade, down payment, bottom-line price and interest rate. I would have no problem telling the dealer I want to be at $430/mo for 5 years, and let him play around with my trade value, car price, etc, as long as I pay the same out of pocket I'm happy.

Dealers are people, too, and salesmen do have to make a living. I'm not saying to not negotiate, but be flexible and it should pay off. If you can't get the price you want, then go somewhere else.

I've always gone on the assumption that the faster and easier you can make the process for your salesman (and yourself), the more willing they'll be able to work with you.

roughly $350/4yrs with ~12k down (not sure yet about the exact amount). Don't even know yet what model I wanna get, 1LT/RS or 2LT/RS, so I will have to see how much I can put down.

Well If I can keep my job another 5 years I could make a $400.00 a month payment.

I'm upside down on my current car so $3k of my $13k down payment will go to that, then I'm aiming for $450 a month either with low low interest rate at 5 years or maybe 6.

looking to buy 11-09-----3-10 I require A SS with AC,leather, 422 hp, 6 speed.
0 down,
Dealer pay tag title and tax,
No more than 30k
Payments not more than $500.00 per month.
If this is not possible I will buy a used C-5 Vette in the 25K range.
Yeah...I'm going to have to go ahead and burst your bubble on this one. Totally not possible. 1SS is $31,500 before tax license, dealer is NOT going to pay t/l for you. You will be looking at $33k minimum out the door with NO leather...$35k WITH leather. With nothing down and assuming somehow you got 5.9% for 5 years your payments would be around $675.

Might want to start looking for that C5 Vette.

It seems impossible to go for zero down, 500 a month for 72 months. For me, I seem to be thinking. I originally was planning on purchasing a 1LT/RS auto in summer of 09, but I may wait. I will be finishing college within 2 years and by the that time (if the Camaro is around), I will qualify for the College Graduate discount. When I get a job, I will save up for a whole year and try to put down as much as I can. I was wondering, if I put down like $15K as a down payment and get the balance financed at 0% ? I was thinking that if i wait a couple years, I can get a 1SS/RS 6 speed.

I'm probably putting about 5k down, but with PEP pricing my 2SS is only about 29k. So I'm looking at probably $600-650/mo including insurance. A fair trade for me, my damn truck costs about $560 a month as it is.

I'm putting $2,500 as a down payment. That'll put me at around $575 - $600/month. Which is still higher than what I currently pay now, but that'll mean I still pocket 35% of my paycheck after all of my bills. I'm single, live in an apartment, no credit bills- just utilities and netflix . I'm also in the military (E-5) which means I have a steady job and decent pay.
So I'm happy with my results.

If I can get my payments into the $500's somewhere I'll be happy. But I'm not telling my dealer that.
