I understand your frustration, but the fact of the matter is, if you expect the warranty to be honored, you better leave the car stock. Regardless of whether or not you or anyone else thinks the clutch in the GT500 is able to handle more power than the car puts out from the factory, all you have to do is change one thing on the powertrain and you open the door for them to deny your claim. It seems to me that is exactly what happened.
How long you had the modification(s) in place or how little you think those modification(s) affected the clutch wear is a moot point. You chose to mod your car and now you are paying the consequences. Again, I understand your frustration with having to shell out some significant money to replace an item you feel should not have to be replaced as early as it did, but as someone else noted, sometimes you have to pay to play. |

--> Your issue <--
WMS 93 Oct. Tune, 2.6 Metco Pulley, Metco Idler, Afco Dual Fan HE, VMP Stock Look Coolant Tank, FRPP Springs, Roush UCA, BMR Adj. Panhard Rod, Hankook Ventus V12, Pypes Pype Bomb Axle backs, JLT CAI, McLeod RST Clutch/ LS Flywheel I would not expect my dealer to honor my warranty if I had added an extra 100HP. Unless you can prove without a doubt your mods were not a contributing factor, your loss on this one. I would chalk this up to owning and modifying a performance car. Regardless of how PO'ed you are, I think you need to reset your own expectations. Lesson learned and you now have an upgraded clutch. |

If I were in the auto business (and I'm certain someone has thought of the same thing before) I would make deals with certain aftermarket companies that if their selected parts are installed on one of my vehicles, then the said parts would not effect the warranty.

Usually manufacturing defects show up in the first few thousand miles, so most suggest not modding immediately upon purchase. However, in the OPs instance, the defect showed up much later.

The McLeod isn't an upgrade. It makes a terrible noise at 1500 RPMs. It has no NVH properties and for a daily driver that's not good. Maybe for a drag car it would be better but that's not the puprose of the car. I just went for fun one day.
Had Ford done the right thing and helped me out I would have had this car and a Fiesta as a daily driver. The $1800.00 killed my ability to get the Fiesta for now. It's clear Ford has no idea about long term customer loyality. This is my 4th new Ford product and I'm 31.

GM, Ford, Chrysler all would have done the same thing given the same circumstances. |

Warrant claims being denied due to mods is not a "New" occurance. Sorry you feel betrayed but ANYONE going to a dealer with those mods should have been prepared for the worst case scenario.

Correct, the GT500 was a stretch but I really wanted to help Ford out last year. My list of mods is about $2,500 worth of stuff. Not everyone who drives these cars are loaded.

They are replacing them in other GT500 owners mods or not for free. Just take a look at the 07-09 GT500 forums. It's the TSB fix for them. There are also some other 2010/2011 GT500s that are stock having the same issue. Of course they were done free of charge. I would have been ok with Ford going half on it with me. I mean at their costs it wouldn't have been much for either of us.

This could happen to any modification.....tuners for european cars...lifts on Jeeps...........gotta find yourself a "mod-friendly" dealer or keep your vehicle stock or close to stock.
I brought my Jeep stock but everything I had added on was done by the dealer,even had to do research on the largest set of tires I could put on.... ...without having them say.."Because of those big ass tires....."
