I pay the yearly cost, cheaper this way and I made a one time payment of 399.00 for a lifetime of XM service. As long as I own this car that is.

Awesome, thanks for the help. I have yet to actually find out what all the car does just to busy with work. The car does things I have no idea about, bought it used with 5900 miles. She came with the OnStar but XM doesnt work on it and dont plan on using it anyway. The car already has Kooks header, no cats, Rotofab intake, TSP cam and dyno tune the car made 465 rwhp and 431rwtq, and have COR 3 piece rims on order. So not a bad start

I kept Onstar, but only after letting it lapse in November. It went from $199 a year to $149 to $129 (weekly emails and two paper letters later) and I bit. I figure that by next year if I don't have a need to use it I'll dump it then.

Also, never activated XM radio, and after 3 months of phone calls trying to get me to subscribe I finally filed a complaint. Besides, with an iPhone in the car and Pandora, why do I need satellite radio for?

Never have used the XM radio but like the fact that my phone links up with the car for phone calls. Will I lose this if I don't renew the Onstar?

I kept the Onstar but downgraded it to drop the navigation. I've had a Garmin for years and it simply works better. Like having accident response tho. I wish they would upgrade the software on the 2010 so the iPhone app would work.
Kept the Xm as well, but if cellular data coverage improves much more I'll just use Pandora or Last.Fm when the contract expires.

It does...

And another thing I learned from OnStar last night was that the minutes essentially 'expire' in one year from the date purchased, even if you keep the minimum subscription going.

We are working on getting this 'corrected' at the moment.

All in all, the service is not that great, you come accross morons providing directions who barely can articiulate the English language, AND ONSTAR MAKES YOU 'THE CUSYOMER' WORK TO HARD AT KEEPING THEIR SERVICE!
I'm in it for the tel conveinence.

Kept my safe and Sound plan. It's only $9.95 a month. Dumped XM since I don't use it that much.

If you're using Bluetooth to connect to your cell phone, then you do not need Onstar. The Bluetooth function is independent.

I already let XM drop and will not be renewing Onstar after the end of January when my trial period expires. The car is purely a toy for me and I don't put enough mileage on it to justify the expense. We do keep Onstar active on my wife's daily driver.

I believe you can get a year (w/o nav) for ~$149. This includes a carryover of your unused minutes plus 100 more minutes.

i don't know if anyone else has answered but for me i have to open pandora and THEN connect my usb. then it automatically plays in the car.

I kept both my on star and xm radio. Call me crazy but it came in real handy when I locked my keys in the car the other day. Kept my xm radio because we like listening to the college football games when we are on the road to and from our sons college football games. I don't know, just one of the few luxuries I have, well other than my car!

I doubt if I will keep On Star...only used the phone minutes that came with the car and I bought for really cheap when I got the car. Never used anything else and it's just too damm expensive for what you get. Why they dont cut the cost by 75% and have 75% more owners subscribe because the price is justified for the services, is beyond me!

Buy a hands free bluetooth clip for $75 and a GPS for $150 and your set.

I did renew my XM only because I do travel and keep it in the Camaro for summer, then transfer the account to my portable the rest of the year and use it in the other car. Plus if you keep saying NO when they call to renew, they will keep calling with better deals. I got a year for $79 so for $6.50 a month, why not.
