THAT BOOST TURNS HEADS

Wanna add a sunroof?
Went to my local dealer today and asked em how much it would be to add a sunroof. They told me I couldn't add it unless I purchased it that way with it on. Is this dealer full of it or am I lucked out on adding a sunroof? Help me out my fellow C5 brothers & sisters

The dealer is full of it. The bad thing is many people have leaks with aftermarket sunroofs.
My dealer didn't have the car I wanted with a sunroof and they tried to get me to have one installed by their local aftermarket specialist. I said "hell no". I went and located the car I wanted with sunroof and had them do a dealer trade. |

Its probably a lot more trouble than its worth... Maybe you can find someone with a car like yours + sunroof who wants to trade. I know a lot of 'tall' people are unhappy with them due to the reduced headroom.

Aftermarket sunroofs are a big headache. In order to do it they need to cut the roof support bar in half and redistribute the stress. They also are known for leaking pretty bad.

well...look at the roof lines, see the "reverse mohawk"? with a moon roof you don't have that....probably why the dealer doesn't want to do it, and I don't blame them. I would never have an aftermarket one installed on ANY car.

Have you ever watched an aftermarket sunroof installation?
Believe me, you don't want to subject your nice new Camaro to this, and any gasket that is thick enough to accommodate the reverse mowhawk is gonna look pretty ugly, too. |

It's not that it's impossible, just a big decision to make whether you want the cutting, installing, etc. work done inside & out of your vehicle. They're done all the time, with every vehicle, the difference here being the reverse mohawk roof structure of factory non-sunroof cars.
Here's an aftermarket install, as an example: |

The first gen5 Camaro I ever (test) drove had an aftermarket sunroof. The edge squeezed the roof so tight that it flattened out what was left of the mohawk. Wasn't too weird looking, but I would sell my car and get another if I wanted a sunroof that bad.
