I think everyone should go over there and see what people are saying about the ZL1. Some serious hating going on right now.

I think the proper question as a GM shareholder is at what price will the ZL1 sell the appropriate number vehicles to maximize profit for General Motors. Clearly, if the ZL1 is priced above what most potential buyers are willing to pay, that will be a problem. Also, if it's priced below what it costs to produce the vehicle, that will be a problem. Therefore, hopefully, General Motors has performed its marketing and engineering homework and due diligence, and will be able to produce the ZL1 at a cost that is compatible with selling the ZL1 at a price point where enough buyers will purchase the vehicle to generate a reasonable profit. I don't know what the costs are to produce 5,000 to 7,000 ZL1s per year, but I believe that the price of the ZL1 needs to be within the historical range of Pony Car prices, adjusted for inflation, of course. There are only so many available dollars in the Pony Car segment. It doesn't matter if a Camaro out performs a Ferrari or a Porsche, as buyers of those vehicles, who do have a lot of money, will not purchase a Camaro. Based on conversations that I have had with those interested in purchasing a ZL1, I believe that a fully loaded ZL1 should have an MSRP of no more than $58,500 in order to keep the vehicle priced within the range where it will generate an appropriate level of sales. Therefore, the marketing specification would read: The ZL1 with a fully optioned configuration shall have a maximum MSRP of less than or equal to $58,500 USD.

I didn't read all the pages of "holy shit" posts, but do we know exactly what tires were used? We have seem lots of pics with the test cars wearing slick tires, and I remember a few articles stating that the new sport cup zp tires may be an option. If they are, I wouldn't be surprised if that is what they used to get those times...which are still impressive.
A far as warranty... if GM finds out that a motor let go on a track, and still replaces it...you are going to have a lot of pissed off corvette owners. |

Yes, I hope GM has learned their lesson with these high powered LS motors. I'm more than happy with my N.A. LS3.

Then again, maybe GM needs to do a bit more tuning to the ZL1.

No, just the Z06. ZR1 is up at the top of the list, way above the ZL1.

Car may start @ $50k MSRP, but we'll see how difficult it is to get it that(salivating dealer mark-ups and all..)
..very good performance times, nonetheless(and w/ good company) |
