I get 12.5-13mpg w/ the 3.9 in my GTP... all city driving mostly just to work and back. I don't baby it and sometimes drive somewhat aggressive. I work maybe 3 miles from my house, about 8 stop signs 3 red lights and typically about 5 minutes of stopped traffic (construction)... so I don't think you're far off if you drive in similar conditions

The Avg fuel economy feature is a tricky thing. I*t actually takes into account your idle time, so for evey second you are at a stop with the car running, you are averaging 0.00 MPG. I would just erase it and start from scratch once the "new" wears off and you're not spending much time just sitting in your car.

yes it does... when you reset it during city driving you will notice how much it fluctuates with the slightest changes... I don't pay much attention to it

What do you mean by "all city?" "City" can mean very different things if the only other choice is "highway." Number of stops per km/mile makes a HUGE difference on fuel economy, especially for a heavy car like the Camaro.

To get at this, I included four driving types in the real-world fuel economy survey I conduct: traffic, city, suburbs, highway, and not just city-highway. Unfortunately, no responses for the 2010 Camaro yet, so I can't say how others with truly "city" driving compare.

As others have suggested, don't trust the trip computer. Instead, manually calculate your fuel economy using amount put in and distance traveled. Trip computers are sometimes inaccurate, and shouldn't be trusted until verified using manual calculations.

my 500 mile 2LT RS is getting 24.6 MPG highway, so far. (my vette just clocked 31.5 MPG on the highway this weekend on Diablo tune) was averaging 70-75MPH. Amazing for a 6.0L with 400 HP!

But really. Look at this dude. He's getting lower than expected mileage, and he can't figure it out on his own. He's trying everyone's tips, but nothing is working for him. And nobody here will know what's going on unless we can take his car for a spin ourselves.

Maybe the original poster weighs 750lbs? Is the trunk loaded with lead? Is he towing a boat? Is he gunning it from a dead stop? Does his city driving consist of driving a quarter mile, slowly, in low gears... then sitting at a red light for 5 minutes before it turns green again? Is he cruising around town in a low gear at 3000-3500 rpms?
lol ok, been a while, have calculated it myself. Without the DIC. I get on average about 15L/100km city. ON highway, she does well, from 10-11 L/100km
I have been driving her harder now and fuel economy is increasing. Could be that the car is getting more loose.
I only weight 145 lol and no the car has just me in it, besides my March 16th 09 Camaro 5 Hat for being there on the first day of production (Thanks Hylton) not sure if that adds too much weight lol.
Believe me, i was keeping the car around city cruising at about 1500- 1800 rpm. Only going to 2800 RPM or lower to pick up.
ive noticed that this car is great on the highway, but not good when it comes to city. Thats just the car and well i can live with that. But instead of worrying about fuel economy now, i just dont care. Im driving my car for what it is. Still dissapointed but not too dissapointed in her "true" city fuel economy. I love my baby

My mother has said the same thing regarding her '08 Buick Lucerne. That the computer is telling her a little less than her calculations show.

I've done this with every fillup of my SS(auto) and the computer is always within .5 of what I get when I do the math myself.

First 2 fillups were Premium, next 2 were Regular, and now I'm back to Premium. (I only have to fillup around every 1.5-2 weeks.) I figure I'll switch back and forth.

Regardless of the gas I've been averaging around 16mpg with mixed driving. (And that's with only having to drive 3.5 miles to work 5 days a week through town with anywhere between 2 and 7 stops depending on how lucky I get with green/red lights.)

I have gunned it once or twice.

Those are great suggestions...
If you just read the OP but not any of the responses it sort of throws the thread off-kilter.

Not sure what movie it's from but....I think Samuel Jackson said it best when he said...

I've never had the ability to watch my mileage as I drive before, I think it's pretty nifty and it makes me wonder how much better my Accord's mileage would've been if I'd been able to see how my driving style affects mileage.
I like watching how good (or bad) my mileage is.

I ALSO like mashing the gas every once in awhile. And it helps to know that I can afford to waste the gas hot-rodding it when I know I can still get good mileage.

TJ's got a valid concern, IMO.

This is the first car I've had the ability to see my mpg as I drive also. So I agree it's interesting to see how it fluctuates depending on my driving.

I'm amazed just how much using cruise control raises the MPG.

I've been getting an average during my work week of about 25-26 MPG with a few trips through town on my way home from work. I drive 66 miles one way. I've taken a few videos I posted up on Youtube to show how it changes out on the highway. I drive between Front Royal VA to Reston VA along I66. I have been using Shell Mid-Grade.
