I didn't think about that... I seem to drive it a little harder than my wife, although we are both still driving it nice, we want to break it in the right way, no really hard driving until we are supposed to. I drive it through the gears both up and down ( I use the trans to slow us down as well ), used to driving a truck I guess ... while my wife tends to start slower and coast to a stop then shift into first. I am a little more agressive with the clutch than she is and don't get the burning smell. I don't know if this helps ...

just a note....shouldn't use the tranny to slow the car down for the 1st 1500k.

my clutch has more of a "light switch" feel too it... that may just be the way new cars are... but its like i have barely 1-2" of actual engagement right at the TOP... the rest is just free pedal to the floor and back up...
other cars i have driven have much more "feel" and engagement area.
it happens when in traffic trying to take off and i have to feather it a little bit to not hit the slow SUV in front of me AND when i try to control wheelspin when launching... "feathering" the clutch.

regardless of how bad my driving is.... the design should not be that it blows that sh@t right in your face! LOL i'll try the recirculation on the fan idea... thx

anyhoo... i gotta take it to the dealer because it misses hard on at least one cyl when WOT... just does it once in 1st or 2nd but its enough to worry me... happens about 50% of the time. (i may start another thread about that)

it sure seems like the ratio could be better... just sayin....

Great movie. Well, great scene at least. The rest of the movie is kinda sub-par.

Nah, just throw in some Clutch lube with your headlight fluid every 3K miles and you'll be super.

Yeah, I did the second one..on a Dyno. Still gives me a "Guh..:facepalm" feeling everytime I see someone else do it. It was that embarassing because I did it in front of 15 people..

Luckily it was a Mustang GT, unluckily it was going to be the centerpiece of a tour for some University investors an hour later.. and they wanted to show off the Dyno.

Luckily it was the first time anyone did that on that particular clutch (#24 I guess..?) so it was good, though a week later they pulled and replaced the clutch.. :P GT had only 800 mi for a 2004 back in 2008..

As for the Clutch thing, it depends on how bad the smell was and how long you had the clutch slipping for. If you were generating actual visible smoke, I'd pull the clutch. If you could smell it strongly, take it in for them to check it out. But remember the mileage on your car and the fact that it IS a new clutch and plate so it needs to be broken in too. What would be bad would be what happened in my friend's cobalt; the clutch wear plate cracked and began to disintegrate under normal use. Techs at the dealership ostracized her for being a chick driving a manual then shat a brick when they saw the plate. Lemmie tell you I'd let her do the entire break in process on my Camaro if she wanted. Only thing I'd worry about would be her beating on the car before it was broken in..

I have gotten that same smell a couple times. Seems to be coming from leaving traction control ON when launching the car pretty hard. Doesn't do that when T/C is off.

The car really bogs out bad when T/C is on. It's probably not you that is doing something wrong i beleive it's the programing built in to the T/C system trying to limit wheel spin.
