No, I think you make a good point. But the point I was trying to make is that if you & I did 10 WOT runs at the strip in one day; 1) You would lose and 2) You would be trailering your ride home while I'd be driving to the local establishment for a few cold beers. This really has nothing to do with ECS or LPE; it is what your entire build consists of. But if you do not plan on driving your car hard, then builds such as yours is fine for 95% of the people doing them. Driving at WOT is a whole other story.

The OP appeared to want to build something more along the lines with how I did mine. I think the responses in this thread has helped him along, including yours.

Just to be clear, the world is full of 650hp ls powered cars on stock bottom ends that regularly spend their days at the track and drive home, hopefully not having a few beers in the process. Lingenfelter is good; they are not gods.
Honestly, 650hp Camaros can get their azz tore out the frame by a blown 4 banger or rotary in the right car. To each his own.

Another thing to consider?
Not that I'm thinking of selling my car anytime soon, BUT, possibly one of the more well known names may make selling the car alot easier and you will probably get more money back into your pocket. The 3 year warranty on the engine is confidence behind the work, and confidence behind the wheel when running 145mph down a runway strip, or back straight on the road course. BTW 145mph in 4th gear!!!

I would certainly be willing to pay more for a Lingenfelter or Livernois built car, even a few others. Homebuilt always has more risk.

Not to take this awesome discussion into the mundane, but what does putting 650hp under the hood do to your insurance premiums? Or is that something you mention AFTER you wrap it around a tree?
I'm in Texas, so I was originally looking at Hennessey, but after this thread I'm thinking LTE all the way. Wonder if they will come get the car - 18h+ drive. Decisions, decisions. |

The good thing about LPE, Hennessy,Livernois et al. is the fact they have the performance "packages". This means a couple of things, one that they don't just bolt on an SC and call it a day. These packages address improving the whole car, and not to be overlooked, are tried and true for the application. The important thing is to talk to them via pone and e-mail and get exact specs an exactly what their product entails. I can't speak for the shops mentioned, but another name is Callaway. They have a very close relationship with GM, sell many performance products through dealerships, and those dealerships are trained on servicing these vehicles. Just a thought. |

Both are ridiculously over priced
I've also read some horror stories about people who take their car to Hennessey for work |
