No it's not! my dealership has been putting Mobile 1 in my car since Dec 09 I haven't had any problems. I would think putting synthetic oil in any car would be better then regular. I wouldn't use anything else but synthetic.

What kind of oil did he suggest? I'm sure he was just trying to push something on you. Mobil 1 is good stuff. Sure, maybe there is arguably something better, but it's certanly NOT crap.

No problem, it was just minor confusion. We all do that.

I've used Pensoil Platnium on every car and truck until I got the Camaro. My dealer only stocks Mobile1 for synthetic so that's what I'm using on it and the new Cruze. They're probably all good, but some are probably better than others. All are probably better than nonsynthetic.

I just did my 1st oil change on the camaro, used penzoil platnuim full synthetic/wix filter. It came factor with semi? Why not just go full? I noticed the difference, I was going to go royal purple, but 8.99 a qrt for synthetic, ya no thanks, lol.

That makes sense then... he was an Amsoil dealer. To him, anything but Amsoil is crap. I run Royal Purple in mine. They are all good though. Especially since the V6 doesn't require a synthetic in the first place.
