I've used penzoil in everything I own for about 20 years now, and i've NEVER had a problem. In 1996, we built a nice little 355 small block, 11.5 comp, nice cam good pistons/rods. This engine spun over 7200 to 7400 on an almost every weekend basis, exploding 3 clutches, numerous 4 speeds, and 3 rear ends. I always changed the oil as soon as it looked dirty, never waited for the 3000 miles crap. Last month, I pulled the heads off to swap to aluminum 76cc heads to drop the compression so I can run pump gas in it, and the engine today is AS CLEAN as it was the day we built it. There was even still a cross hatch in the cylinder walls much to my amazement. Of course, this engine ran a 60/40 mix of race gas, and super unleaded (smelled nice inside too), but it was spotless.

Now, when we broke in 3 rebuilds on premium regular oil, and switched them to mobil 1, all wiped out bearings within 1000 miles of the synthetic change. This was back in the mid-late 90's, and i'd like to think they've improved it since then..

Also note, they've removed all the zinc from motor oil's now, which actually hurts some internal components, specifically flat tappet camshafts, particularly on break in. I've not heard anything concrete on break in of roller camshafts. Anybody else know more on this topic? I'm curious.. But the oils now contain alot of detergents. If I had my choice between royal purple, and mobil 1, and penzoil synthetic, i'd go with penzoil since i've had such great luck with it, royal purple, and mobil 1 absolutely last.

Guys, just to be clear, this isn't a Pennzoil vs M1 battle. I've been happy with both. I usually get one of the two depending on which one's on sale at Wally World.

The problem is that the dealer put a synth BLEND into a vehicle that calls for 100% Full Synthetic. Again, I would drain that blend out before going to the track.

My .02, I wouldn't pay for the oil change!!!! Then I would go home and drain the flush the engine (can of engine flush) drain the oil, take off that crappy filter, buy a Royal Purple filter and oil......After I was done I would take that Pennzoil shit back up to the dealer in a milk carton and set it in front of the bays, tell them it is there and it is garbage.....When they argue with you saying they cannot accept used oil, just say I DON'T ACCEPT IT EITHER, I WANTED MOBIL 1 AND YOU INSISTED ON THIS, SO HERE YOU GO, YOU CAN HAVE THAT SHIT BACK and just so you know, I will spread the word, I WON'T BE BACK!!!!!!

Make them drain it and do it right. And expect it to be free for the inconvenvience.

Flipping morons that can't even do an oil change right don't deserve the big Chevy bowtie sign out front. It's so simple it's absolutely rediculous. The car takes a PF48 filter and 8 qts of M1 or equiv meeting the GM spec. Period. It's even on the dang oil cap for God's sake.

Post their name so that others may avoid such douchebags.

And if they don't immediately rectify the situation. Drain it yourself, then take the drain pan to the middle of the showroom floor and dump it. Tell these assclowns you decided to return it. Stop at the cashier with your receipt and advise you've returned the wrong parts, they are in the showroom if you have any questions. Money, give it back now.

Do the oil changes yourself and have a fun moment working on your car. That way you know whats in there and if it is done to your satifaction. I rarely let anyone work on any of my cars, but thats just me...

I am the only one that wrenches on ANY of my cars. Quite frankly, I am a little OCD and just don't trust anybody else. The rule always stands: "If it is not yours, you will not respect it the same as your own"!!!!! Case-n-point......the damn dealer can't even get the oil right for god sake, what if it were brakes, fuel lines, struts, gears.....shit whatever it may be, would the dealer use the same bullshit excuse as above.....probably. All that does is save them a little time and money but puts a lot of frustration on you..............Have fun, drive hard and do the work yourself......It's well worth it
