It would have been nice to see your first post with something alittle less negitive. You directly attacked that guy. It's not the words "Shit" that they won't allow it is the direct words stated towards someone! We like guys from other forums on here giving there opinion when done without the negitivity. It is just odd that those kind of statements don't usually come from guys.
Don't jump on the guy for calling out someone for making a ridiculous statement that he will never have to prove. The guy is full of shit. There. I said it too.

I was at a car show yesterday, and a Gm employee told me that they got a contract with the U.S Army to install 15,000 LS3's in their new stryker. AND as a return favor.. the army is letting GM use the Slate armour technology for thier 2011 camaros (added safety).

you guys realize that when they say they "run it" its not always a full motor spinning that high.

simple bottom end tests will have the block and crank (with pistons attached) hooked to a test stand. the bottom end is then spun to the ends of the earth to measure vibration and crank flex.

Allright, ease up.

Thank you.

Fwiw, I have heard of this 24hr test before...though not the 10,000rpms. It's possible he misheard, or something, so lay off.

Definitely. Maybe the OP misunderstood. Maybe the guy he got his info from misunderstood what happens.

Just the thread sounds like a complete LS3 was run at 10k for 24 hours.

Also CamaroSpike where at in Charleston are you? I am in Columbia.

It's not unheard of for a pushrod engine to peak at 10k rpm but to have one run there for 24hrs?.........i hope they don't put that engine in my car lol

Does anyone know what the LS3 will safely turn at without coming apart? When you look at all the dyno sheets on this site, you'll see that there is still "money left on the table" when the cut-off kicks in.

My guess is 6800 before you would start experiencing valve float. I am sure someone more knowledgeable than I will be able to confirm or den this.
