I'm betting we do not break any track records. It will be fun to take our time and get a feel for it we would have ALL day would be fun after a few hundred laps.lol

OK really 5 min lap (worst my guess?) 1 hr is 7 laps.maybe 8.
after the 3rd Hr we should all be better. no need to rush the speed.
drive our cars test them , Just not past the limited.

If we can get 16 cars, it would be about $400 a person.

I ran VIR last February in stock Pirellis in the rain. Same kind of open track format. Rain is tough; about half of the 18 cars on the track went off track at some point. Mostly fender benders and suspension damage. Not trying to scare anyone, but if you are running without traction control on in the rain and pushing the limits, this is possible. Compare that to a Corvette event in June with 100-ish cars in sunny warm weather and probably 2-3 went off track and those were guys REALLY pushing it. One was a ZR1 that blew an engine. The trick in cold weather is to do 3-4 laps to let the tires warm up before screaming around any corners.

At a pretty slow pace the full track is maybe 3 minutes. I'm down to 2:19 on my most recent outing there and consistently hitting 130 on the back stretch. Can't wait to try it now that I've got a blower.

I've been to VIR in my ZL1 full course. My group ran in November and I would love to do it again.

"hot" track time is 9AM to 4:30 pm lunch time is optional they just need to know our plans.
we do our own tech for saftey.and pick who is on track when.
many week days are still open we just need to pick one.
Did you ask about a spectator fee? If we wanted to bring someone along that wants to watch.

That's a beautiful sound hearing your SC whine as you head into the straights

What group did you run with?

I had a Mercedes S600 and Mercedes S65 before my ZL1. All of my VIR experiences were with the Potomac Audi Club. Great instructors and any car can run with their group. The only issue I had there was extremely hot water/oil temps when the ambient temp was only 75 degrees. It would creep up to 242 water and 310 oil after 3 laps. I recently upgraded the radiator to a larger core Dewitts unit which will hopefully help. What were your water temps? My ZL1 is not an isolated case as some members here have complained of similar high temps.

Haven't really looked at coolant temp while on the track, but I guess I should! Oil temps rose while I was running but never that high.

What's different about the Dewitts? Wider? Deeper? Do you remember what model #? Would like to have a look.

I put Hex Vents in my hood last year and they really help with air flow under the hood. But you have a heat extractor on your ZL1 that is probably better.

Have never run a track with my SC on. Would be curious to hear if anyone else has had heat problems after installing a SC and tracking their car.
