Lightbulb I Have a Question About The Stainless Works Exhaust System & Stock X-Pipe.

Hi everyone,...
I was checking out the Aftermarket Exhaust Video Clips Compilation Thread located (here)

And I was checking out the Stainless Works Exhaust System and thought that their system sounded to my ear but my question is.

Since the header isnt coated wont they get pretty hot under the hood?

I live in SW Florida and during the summer time it gets well over 100 down here, Wouldnt I want to get a Header that has some kind of coating on it or get a coating on it?

I've heard that Jet-Hot does a Pretty Good Job at that sort of thing but I've heard that they arent cheap, it was suggested to me to just buy a set that are already coated to begin with.

My other Question is,.. What is Better, The Stock X-Pipe or This Magnaflow Tru-X-Pipe?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks guys.

Jim

If you put SW headers no problem put PLEASE dont put their catback.....their catbacks /mufflers are pure noise polution....terrible....with the stock headers it sounds as bab but with less polution thats all....worst sounding ever heard

Really? They sound that Bad together eh?

Have you actually heard them both together live in person or just in a video?

I've always been a Flowmaster person myself, All of my vehicles that could use muffler upgrades have had the Flowmaster Delta Flow 40's on them, I just don't know exactly how they would sound on the 2SS.

Thanks for your Input.

I live in S. Florida and had uncoated headers before. I did get them coated years later but only because I was getting other work done to them. I am using uncoated again for my SS. Magnaflow also has a Tru-X muffler that can be used in place of the stamped x-pipe. It is the same muffler on the competition cat-back. That's what I'm doing anyways.

You are entitled to your opinion but I tried several configurations until I went with SW headers & catback 3" system. I think it sounds killer. SW has good products but their customer service could use a tune!

WOW Dude!!!! Thats a first. I guess to each his own.

Imo Stainless Works is by far the best sounding exhaust system period.

In person the sound is Just plain in your Freaking Face Intimidating. Very, very race like.....the way these cars outta sound to begin with. I get goose bumps just thinking about it under wot.

This System is DEFINITELY not for the faint of Heart tho..........If you want just plain "Wicked" go with Stainless Works.

Contact Bill@Stainless. He is a member here. He will take care of you. I have had extremely good customer service from them and I am one picky SOB!!!!!

Ya that's a first for me to, i also have the full SW exhaust and have gotten nothing but compliments from people and they love it! Is it loud? Dang right it is! But in a good way. There are alot of exhaust systems out there and most sound good but SW system sounds pissed and ready to eat whatever is in the way. I don't regret getting this setup one bit and i had great customer support. So go with your gut and get what you think is right for you and you will be happy.

Hmm,..
I love a car that sounds Pissed Off Now.

Just as long as it doesnt sound like a Pissed Off Chain Saw like you hear on some of these 4 Banger Honda's Which I Truely Doubt That It Will.

Although my wife said she wont get in the car with me if i get another car with with a loud exhaust again like i have now in my Truck which i dont think is loud at all. Right now I have JBA Headers with a Magnaflow Tru-X X-Pipe going to 2 Delta Flow Flowmaster 40 Mufflers, It's not that loud in the Cab at all I think but it's much louder behind the vehicle and Much Louder when you stomp on the gas.

How much does it cost anyway these days to get a set of Long Tube Headers Coated with a Nice Coating of either Silver Ceramic or Titanium Ceramic Coating?

Man it'd be nice if someone in my area did this but i highly doubt that also where i live.

Thanks Guys.
Jim

I searched for this (Magnaflow Tru-X Muffler) and couldnt find any such beast. Do you have a link to one?

Why do so many people like Maganflow so much?
I've only heard 1 Magnaflow setup many years ago and I didnt like the way it sounded at all, I couldnt even tell you the vehicle it was on any longer.

They use Magnaflow Exhaust on the show "OverHaulin" all the time and I'm still not Impressed, Is that way people use it because Chip Foose uses it? Everybody sells that Exhaust around here, I'd like to use it if someone could tell me why i should or if i heard a 2SS Camaro in real life using it that sounded Awesome.

I've read that their Flow Rate is pretty good for the mufflers.

Anyway,..
If you have the link,.. I'd like to read about it,..
Thanks
Jim

The part number is 11386 for the tru-x muffler. I had SLP Powerflow with headers on my other Camaro (LT1) and love it. It has a deep/low sound but not too loud, I get a lot of compliments even from guys that aren't into cars. The only reason I'm useing the Maganflow is because I'm not getting a catback system and I just want to replace the L99 resonator with an x-pipe to compliment the headers. I'd like to get the Solo muffler but they don't sell the muffler seperately and SLP doesn't make an x-pipe muffler. In fact, to my knowledge only Solo and Magnaflow do.

Interesting,.. I went to Magnaflow Website but i didnt see anything about the X like the X-Pipe would have, That Muffler talks more about Straight Through Flow, I'm a Fan of Magnaflow's Tru-X X-Pipe, I'm using one right now on my Dakota.

I'm wondering if i should go ahead and order one for my 2SS thats on order now and if so which size, the 2.50"? Probably eh??

Thanks for the Info.

Jim.
