Its an amazing engine - truly a testament to GM's engineers.

Here's some good threads to peruse on that subject.

It's really remarkable. Anyone getting a V6 should not regret it.

And that is one of the reasons we think it will do so well with boost, with only a slight drop in CR if any.

The pistons are cast from a high-strength aluminum alloy, receive cooling oil from pressure-actuated jets-something unique to the LS9,The LLT also features a VVT system which, unlike the single-cam-phaser setup implemented on the L99, alters the phase of the intake and exhaust camshafts independently, resulting in Variable Valve Timing in an even truer sense (or as engineers like to call it on this application, "four-cam continuously variable cam phasing")
This is 1 hot Engine the guys like me with V8 better be careful?

Do we know how much horsepower the internals can handle?

actually yeah. I can see some v-6s that will be giving a lot of v-8s a run for their money. most all will be some form of FI, whether mechanical or chemical, but still it will be some awesome times ahead of us.

did anyone read all the way to page 6? here is the quote me may have been waiting for "(Let's not even waste our breath on the Mustang GT-the LLT should just about take care of it.) As to the GT500 et al, we'll leave the upcoming Z28 to put the smackdown on those high-dollar Fords!"

Not quite effective math, but it should provide a bottom line. Not all of the strain is split evenly per cylinder - the net horsepower output is actually less than the sum of its parts (the strain on each cylinder), in this case. Meaning most certainly 500 hp or more from the LLT.

If I had a limitless supply of money, I'd buy the V6 and drop in lower CR pistons and the supercharge it with one of the new maggy 1900's at about 5-7 psi of boost. Then a full exhaust and a full suspension. Plenty of power, plenty of fun, and it would pull really good mileage too (probably better than the LLT does already since it would be lower CR).
