It was an interesting feature to wrap my brain around when I drove the convertible, but as long as there's a place to put the key, I could get used to it. I dont carry keys in my pocket because I don't like getting poked by them when sitting/driving, and I don't like buttons on the fob getting activated when I sit down.

You drove the Vert?!?!...Lucky, lucky - I haven't even seen the Coupe.
Anyways, how did it work, do you push it and it starts itself, or do you have to hold it until it starts?

I just saw a commercial for the new Nissan Altima... It has the Push Button start and it looks pretty neat!

perfect example of what i was talking about. you push it, it starts itself, you push it again and it shuts itself off.... Its not an appliance, computer monitor coffee pot.... make it race car style.

Not trying to pick on you acs, you just happened to post a good example of what i meant. I dont mind push button start, but there needs to be a seperate switch for accessory and off.
Im sure im not the only one that would be pissed off if I HAD to start my car just to listen to the stereo or whatever.

I would much rather go for something like that. If I don't have to take out my keys to go, I'd be very happy. I like the push button. Also, you can't accidentally try to start it twice and screw up your starter...you've all heard that noise before. I like the push for on and then push for off. Great idea. I pray it makes it in.

Is this how it is now for all push button cars??? Because I might not want my car started, but will want the radio to work. For example, the DVD players in my KIA don't work w/out the keys. Not cool.

I figure that surely they already know that it won't make people happy if they have to crank the car just to turn on the radio... So I'm thinking they may have already thought about that. I mean, they did make the key turn backwards so you could just turn on the radio without having to start the car, so they should be able to come up with something for this?

The way our M915 Semis are is that the key switch is just like a normal car. Bacward for accessory and forward for the on position. The only difference is that instead of turning the key fruther to start it, you push the button.

Why not just have the radio work all the Time, as though it's plugged in to the wall, regardless of wether or not the Car's on. My Mom's Van's clock will turn on if you push the "time" button...when the Car is off - why not expand on that.....

You know I said all that stuff...without thinking for a second....Take a look at this: The above picture, but......"enhanced"

I'm SURE that there is another aspect to push-start(that we aren't thinking of) much like AFS Nightrod's description...

Dragoneye, there is an easy way to wire a stereo hot where you can have it on all the time, run it off the same wire (memory wire) that allows you to check the clock with the car off, keys out, etc. or run your own power wire. Im sure they have something in mind. AFS, thats the kind im talking about.
