New Michelin tires

New Michelin Tires... Absolutely SCARY looking.. Look for 'em in August.

These tires are made in South Carolina , USA .

SEE THROUGH TIRES
Radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.

Yes, those are 'spoke' like connections to the inner part of the tire from the outside tread 'wrap!' The next picture shows how odd it looks in motion...

Makes you wonder how the ride feels doesn't it?

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very
soon. The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on
these.
Just think of the impact on existing technology:
A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats...
These are actual pictures taken at the South Carolina plant of Michelin.

as it is,that is flat ugly.if they covered it with rubber ,it would look like a regular tire.
if they did that,i would buy them.that's the kind of tire we need.you don't need a spare.

tires

I agree, thats UGLY !!!!
rubber around it would def. look a lot better, but i'm not sure how it would stand up to aftermarket wheels when you hit a hard bump, looks like it would bend the hell out of them !!!

I imagine they are open for testing but once on the market they will add sidewalls. Well, at least I hope that is the case. I wonder how long the cores last and if the tread can be replaced separate?

The purpose of these tires...iirc, is to eliminate the need to inflate the tires. Making it super-easy to maintain for the average buyer. At the same time, these supposedly use less rubber to make than a similarly-sized traditional tire...

So I remember reading. I think they're kinda neat, actually...
