HP difference between having Cats or no cats
Im going back and forth about getting cats. i know in most states there are laws about having cats but im not really worried about that. just curious about the actual horse power difference

Really no noticeable difference. I believe someone tested and there 1-2 hp difference.

You won't regret getting cats, because the hp difference is debatable at best. However, you could regret no cats because of the smell.

Are you planning any forced induction? Lots of issues with aftermarket cats and high horsepower. Here's one of my Kooks.

It makes a lot of sense to stay with the high flow cats. You won't lose out on any power until the 700 horsepower range. So we only recommend off road pipes on big power or forced induction cars. If you have off road pipes....you are technically running illegal in any state. Some states check harder then others but in any state you can run into trouble. Most exhaust shops will refuse to work on your exhaust system if they see you don't have cats as well. |

Its not illegal like a federal offense now lol, it woild be a vehivle code violation. Cats moved or removed from the stock locations are illegal anyways. So as soon as you slap Lt's your not "legal". But who cares lol, I'm Catless on all my cars, kids and wife LOVE the smell of overlap lol.

Between high flow cats and no cats there is almost no difference. You are talking about 2-3 rwhp here and there.

I'm pretty sure Jannetty Racing did a spreadsheet on several brands showing as little as 1hp gains on no cats vs hfc's.
