Camaro Mule with VE Commodore body
Camaro mule spotted on the road - same car as seen on trailer back in 04/2007.
Coupe a Camaro Barry Park, The Age, 31/07/07 No, it's not a Holden Monaro. Instead, this specially modified, two-door VE Commodore seen by a sharpeyed Drive reader in East Melbourne recently is most likely a test car using the wheelbase of the 2008 Chevrolet Camaro. The car sits on a much shorter wheelbase than a standard Commodore, and the roof line is lower as a result. The rear doors are decoys in an attempt to pass off the coupe as a sedan, and the C-pillar is much narrower. The rear overhang is modified as well, with a much steeper angle rising up from the wheel arch. Departing Holden general manager Denny Mooney admitted recently that Camaro mules were venturing onto Melbourne roads as part of the car’s development program. The Camaro is the first confirmed global vehicle to be built on the Zeta rear-wheel-drive platform, developed in Australia for the VE Commodore. Its wheelbase is 109 mm shorter than the Commodore. The Camaro will be built in Canada from late next year and is expected to use a V6 or V8 engine when it goes on sale early in 2009. The Holden Monaro two-door coupe is traditionally built on the same wheelbase as the Commodore sedan. Don’t be fooled by the decoy rear doors—this is likely a test car using the wheelbase of the Chevrolet Camaro. |

I wouldn't mind those wheels...they're sort of a cross between the Coupe's and the 'vert's...

It might be my eyes....but it also looks like it has a staggered set up on the wheels like the concept does.

Hey guys, did some research on this and there is another car in a picture that looks just like that one. Here's the link: http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/29/g...more/#comments
Look underneath the big picture and look at the closeup of the design. The car in the picture is silver, but this one is white.

There's three pages on that picture and discussion of what it could be. Take a read if you have a moment and see what you think. I'm not too sure it's a shell for the Camaro. And if you want to talk more about it, reply in the link pasted above. Thanks! |

So those are roughly the proportions that the camaro will be? If so it looks kinda big. I know the door is fake but thats still a big back seat

I doubt those are the proportions. They had to modify the Commodore to fit the Camaro's wheelbase. That's all. I wouldn't look to that body for any Camaro proportions. None at all.

concept has 21" inch wheels up front and 22" wheels on back. It could be the angle the pic was taken but it looks that way to me. But i know those aren't 21 and 22 wheels. look more like 18 or 19.

UPDATE: Is this really for the Camaro
not to bring badnews... or wrong news... cause i may not be right.
But, I found this thread "Chevrolet v8 ss mule spotted in california" from July 07 http://my.is/forums/f104/2009-chevro...fornia-335035/ that says This thinly disguised Holden Commodore based Chevrolet with SS badgetry was spotted yesterday (July 12) just outside of San Diego, California. Practically, we’re talking about a sister model to the upcoming Pontiac G8 GT with the 362Hp 6.0-liter V8 unit. Unfortunately, GM people impolitely covered the nameplate of the Michigan plated Chevy mule so we can’t be sure of the model. While many of you would love this prototype to be the rear-wheel drive successor to the Impala SS, we’re betting it’s either the Brazilian Omega SS or (most probably) the Middle-Eastern market Lumina SS. it looks an awful lot like the mule we seen a month or two back. |
